Guys this thread is fun and shit but can we remember that PL thinks that streamers get thousands of dollars per event and is implying that we shouldn't let people like EGP, Kombat Network, AtlantaKombat (or w/e the atl one is now), etc. stream?

I mean that's really fucking stupid. REALLY stupid.

how do we prevent bias?
In situations where individuals make judgement calls, you really can't without people pointing fingers. Also Perfect Legend, I'm not sure I agree with the statement that no one should have a really easy or really hard road. Because sooner or later you will have to face the people/characters you might or might not be ready for.

There is no such thing. Everyone has biases. Even if they do their best to act without bias someone will accuse them of doing otherwise.
The only way to avoid it is by rigidly following a predetermined system that does not allow for anyone to make judgement calls.

Excellent point. And I'm going to take this opportunity to shout out Avylon (and their local representative @AVN PTH jonnitti ) for recording off-stream matches at NEC. (I don't know if they're still doing this; I haven't been to a major since.) And if you've seen them in action you know that's just as much work and a thankless, volunteer job as anyone's at the tournament.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that something like 80% of the people at a major are not going to make top 16. Realistically a good chunk of them do not have any expectation of making top 16. Setting everything up to cater to the top 16 (or top 8) may help make hype finals, but it's biting the hand that feeds you.
we are still recording off stream matches! however we try to cover multiple games at this time. unfortunately, at final round, everyone in avylon other than myself and bibulus left on saturday and we only have footage of sc5 :/. on the bright side, we have the entire tournament until top 8!

If only 1300 people are watching Injustice on KN stream, that means there are pretty much only about that many people interested. We may get a piggy back off Spooky's stream and that's awesome, I will always advocate putting you guys on there for top 8, but in reality, the majority of the 20,000 people watching TS are just waiting for Injustice to finish, but granted there will be some new eyes opened every time and they will check us out as long as they aren't playing or watching another game they like. The most viewers we've ever had on KN was 2300, and that was at ECT5 while TS had 23,000, when Injustice was brand new. For majors we always break 1000 viewers.

As for getting paid $1000 - (lol) $2000 a day to stream, I can tell you right now I have never been paid that much, in fact I only started getting paid to stream in the last year, and made a grand total of ~$2400 streaming around half a dozen majors (GUTSII, TFC, NEC, WB, FR, maybe one other). In addition, my out of pocket costs (gas, tolls, hotel) offset my payment almost to the point where I come out even, and I also do throw a few bucks to my guys from time to time, if I get paid the day of. The only streamer who sees legit profit is probably TS, and well deserved. Make no mistake, Spooky DOES love streaming NRS games. He has been a huge help to us and in the past I have defended him when players didn't want him streaming us at all.

Players need to stop worrying about brackets and start worrying about winning the entire tournament. Stop training for your pools and isolated matches and be the best you can be. Is that good enough? I'm going to just make sure I eek my way out of my pool and let it ride from there. At least I can say I was in the top 8, or 16, or 32, or some other forgettable placement. If you aren't in the top 3, no one should care about you. There are always going to be issues with brackets, you can't keep everyone happy. If anyone thinks that brackets are intentionally made unfair, they can GFT, we try our best to have players who can do it, and when those players show they are incapable, they are removed. Believe me, it's already happened. The more pools, the more chance of free pools. No one should be concerned about who makes it to top 32.

I have some matches from the last couple tournaments that I will have Kazi post on his AG youtube soon.

Jaxel posts his matches as he goes, immediately, by the match when he streams, so long as he has a good connection rate. For example, the Break has like 500/100 and he has his entire streams up instantly.

Commentator biased, hype, whatever, I mean there needs to be color commentary but I can understand players who are flat out insulting others for no reason not being suitable for an entertaining stream. The commentary station proximity to the players is something that is hard to deal with when there are multiple streams in a room and a lot of games going on. I'm going to get a separate amp for my headsets, because their cannot be a problem with them. The audio in the commentator's headsets is the exact same source as the players, it just has an amp from the mixer. That should help filter out noise somewhat.

There should be no seeding imo. If you're good/the best, prove it. Don't base it off of versing low tier players to get an easy top 8.
OK, you're one of my favorite posters here, but this makes no sense.

Only 8 people are going to make top 8 (shocking I know), and if the the best 8 players are on one side of the bracket, and thus, have to take each other out, then the eventual top 8 in the tournament is not going to reflect who really are the best players. I mean people discuss bracketology now...Imagine how that would go once you go with random seeding. You mean to tell me that players who have earned their spot by placing at majors can be placed on one side, having to tear each other into pieces while some other dude who's not nearly as good gets a free pass to top 8? That's a good thing how exactly?

If you get a pool with Brady, Forever King and KDZ (hypothetically of course, because nobody would be silly enough to do that... Oh wait) then you can't tell all 3 guys: Hey guys, if you're all good, you'll make it out of pools, because only two of them can! Meaning that one of them is punished for being placed in a pool of death while inferior players get a far easier path elsewhere.

The logic should be that if an unknown player wants to prove he belongs, then he'll take out the big names. It's not those who already proved their worth who should have to prove it again by potentially being paired up against each other early.
