Well its an RPG and the whole you die a lot thing is all about how this game forces you to be not only patient, but learn from your mistakes you made previously. In a way your FG experience will likely come into great effect in this game since you have to make reads to tell what the enemies are going to do and you will need to learn their patterns. So, for someone who has never played an entry in this series...what type is it? Like what genre? I know you die like all the fucking time but that's pretty much all I know about it.
This is seriously pissing me the fuck off. I mean, why get the game early if I'm not even going to be able to experience probably the best part about Dark Souls? They HAD to anticipate the amount of activity on their servers, so what the fucking fuck?sooooo I can't log in to the Dark Souls 2 servers and the lack of info on google makes it seem like I'm an isolated case
profound sadness
not sure what to do
New wallpaper, thank youBeen enjoying DSII much more that Titanfall
i got lost for over an hour last night, feels goodThe joys of getting lost and not knowing where to go again.
You have to level up Adaptability. It increases agility which makes your roll quicker and have more invincibility frames. It also decreases recovery on a lot of things (chugging estus, etc), and it MAY decrease weapon swing recovery. It feels a lot different. There seems to be longer recovery on weapon swings, or just the hitbox change where you're not invincible when you roll is making it seem that way. I'm getting hit alot and half the time I don't even realize it because there's no impact. Also real talk, the hitboxes get a little wonky and inconsistent. It goes both ways: I roll out of the way of a sword swing, enemy has a smidge of health left so I swing at him..like he's a giant, I'm literally shoving my sword up his ass and it doesn't register. He flattens me because I was counting on that swing connecting. Likewise an enemy has swung stabbed me clearly before my swing came out and I won't take any damage.
That was my problem with those cyclops'. I'd avoid a hit, counter, roll back repeat. Then randomly that would decide not to work and I'd die and lose more health. It's frustrating, cause I feel like I'm being punished for trying to play like the other Souls games (keep tackling an enemy till you learn how to kill to). Don't get me wrong, had a lot of fun, just want to try and keep perspective. It feels a lot different. Other than that I'm really liking the game. The joys of getting lost and not knowing where to go again.
Ok I don't want anyone to spoil any specific locations, but what gear can I find if I just beat 1 to 3 bosses at the beginning DKS2, gain access to some new areas and then start doing "suicide runs" ie. run with nothing but a shield on past everybody and try to find gear?
Some gear I was hoping to find as soon as possible, or something similar to the following:
Weapons: Zweihander, Claymore, Bandit's knife/Secret dagger, Washing pole, Estoc, Winged spear
Rings: Havel's ring/Ring of great strength (50% to max equip load), Ring of favour and protection (+ hp, + stamina, + equip load), cloranthy ring/eternal warrior's ring (stamina regeneration boost)
Armour: Elite knight set, some BDSM leather pervert set with poison and/or curse resistance, something similar to black iron/giant's set, something similar to Gloom/Yourt's armor in Demon's souls (medium armor with poison/plague and potentially curse resistance)
Shields: Grass crest shield (stamina regeneration boost), lowest weighing great shield, any type of shield with fire/magic/poison resistance near max
Bows/X-bows: Composite Bow or any bow that scales with str
Is it worth it to risk pointless deaths and decrease my max hp at the start of the game to find at least the Zweihander, Elite knight set and Havel's ring, or something similar to the Drake sword? I understand you will get invaded if you are playing online no matter what, hollow or human. I wish to play the game online all the time and find something early on that will give me a chance to survive when some douchebag will inevitably invade with +5 lightning uchigatana, quick rolling in heavy armour and casting TWOP/WOTG or dark bead, killing you with a laggy backstab and doing the facepalm gesture over and over again... fuck, I hope all people who "low level PVP" like this, invading you in already challenging environments, get AIDS and die in a fire LMAO.
On another note, what I have seen I like the enemy designs. Humanoid enemies with weapons/shields and decent movement speed as well as some really large humanoids with weapons will probably be a challenge to kill as a tank early on. No more slugs/worms that don't do shit and just crawl towards you ever so slowly and wait for you to slaughter them lol. Would be cool if running r1 or jumping r2 with a Zweihander (held with both hands) wouldn't stagger or knock down some of the bigger regular enemies.
Yea. It gets annoying because a lot of the bigger enemies only leave themselves open to attack in very small windows, so I'm kinda counting on my sword swings connecting. It's not a frequent issue, but it has happened more than once and every time its happened I've payed the ultimate price for it.That was my problem with those cyclops'. Real talk, LOVE that music in Majula (name for hubtown, right?), I didn't want to kill those little piggies though. And anyone find the IrishBro with what looked like the Moonlight Greatsword variant for this game (fun fact, the moonlight sword is one of FromSoft's things that's in most of their games)?
And I didn't think I'd like the focused storyline, but I think it's neat. Little trippy at the beginning.
Thx man, I watched some beta footage a while backI have defeated 5-6 bosses and have only come across a few things that you've listed here. I found a Pike, a twinblade(like darth maul from star wars), a greatsword, and a bastard sword. There is a heavier armor after defeating the Pursuer called the Drangleic armor. It's about twice as good as normal armors, but twice as heavy.
I've also found the cloranthy ring(pretty sure its in the "first" area, the Forest of Fallen Giants).
And I don't think you need to worry about some retard invading you with a lightning Uchi and fast roll. This game is different in pvp, and you or your opponents will suffer for it, depending on which one of you is better at adapting to the newer mechanics better. I haven't lost to a single person that's invaded me. I've only been invaded once outside the belfry area (has a covenant called the bell guardians, very similar to the cat covenant in the first game only the area you fight in is way smaller) and since I was in the way of blue covenant it summoned a blue phantom to my game and we wasted the guy. lol

The music in Majula reminds me of an older Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star game. I like it too.
i dont really understand poise either. I'm using a Rapier dual wielded with a Scimitar and im stun locking anyone in full sets of armorNot sure how I feel about PvP, it's definitely much different than DS1. I haven't lost a PvP match yet though, 10-0 lol. Also, apparently poise either doesn't matter, or does something totally different this time around. My first impressions, which is very limited obviously, is that ranged weapons, such as spears and long range combat (bows, sorcery, miracles, etc), are going to be very good in PvP. Some magic was good in PvP in DS1, but I think there's gonna be a lot more variety in PvP since simple melee is not as powerful.
Again, this is all speculation and first impressions. I know I for one haven't been able to dead angle anyone. Everytime I get close, they poke me once and I get stun locked.
