It really looks like (at this point at least) that the only people entering Inj are the people who main the game.
So it would be hard to have 60+ at any event. NEC seems to be a nice exception, but that event did have every region.
If all events had everyone that traveled, then you would see 100+.
But since this is not the case, do you still think 60+ is reasonable?
Maybe 40-50 would be better ? most of these smaller tournaments are still pretty stacked.

KIT has 57 pre registered

Why? Because DTN had abysmal advertising and hype, no one travels to apex due to past history and everyone is choosing the organizational skills and history of FR, scr and KIT over apex and the lethargic DTN.

Again kit has 57 pre registered and I know over 10 atlanta players and multiple other regions who have not registered yet but are going

To be fair though, the competition was still fierce. Its not like 23 schmucks and Jupiter showed up.
Thinking about it, counting all of the "top" players, you don't really even break 35 or 45 people.

All I'm trying to say is major or not, it still brought all the pressure you'd come to expect from one.

Anyways I'm not here to mence numbers, any tourney where a top Bane doesn't walk into top 8 is stiff competition in my book. Once I heard Grr got taken out of the tourney, I had to watch and I certainly wasn't disappointed.

The cap, I heard some major was going to have one and I assumed this was it. If not, that's my bad on misinformation.

If you mean the "No Bane in top 8", that'd be this one. Not to rag on anyone else, I mean. Just Bane has seen a lot of success lately, so hearing something new is pretty nice once in a while.

According to Joe Kruty (the RG guy who helped run it) we had over 40 entrants. Some of them were probably Smash players entering for fun but it had a good turnout. We even had out of town people there like Killinator and Digit. Not that it makes it more than a regional but it was a pretty good one.

most west coast tournies are just west coast players with a handful of players from midwest
most east coast tournies are just east coast with a handful of players from else where like midwest again lol.. ( shoutouts to midwest, they even go to canada lol)
we get like 2-3 tournies a year where every region is there.

mkc does not really travel. so it is really hard to say which tournies are majors in that case.

oh of course, I know you got to make your predictions, that is what brings the hype. But when I look at SCR, I get a top player list of this: Tyrant, Me, DJT, Blind ducky, Wound cowboy, Jupiter, Slayer, Theo, Wonderchef, etc. And any of us could get top 3 at SCR, but yeah we'll just have to see.

So the numbers are one criteria that need to be met, like you stated above.
The competition matters too of course.

So let's say we have a tournament where we have 30 top players for inj.
These are the only entrants as well, but literally any one of the 30 could win the tournament.

Then we have Tournament B, where we have those same 3o players but we have an additional 50+ pot fillers.
Making this tournament an 80 man bracket and also classifying it as a major.

The only difference between the two would be the pot fillers really when you look at it.
Would that really make the first tournament not a major?

Oh for sure. I definitely agree. Those were awesome tournaments. Like you said, they all fill the criteria.
I do not think anyone doubts these tournaments to NOT be majors. Because they are and always will be ( hopefully).
