EVO 2011 MK STREAM

too many mistakes especially on iagb:
Michelangelo said he had problems with the PS2 pad and even the commentators saw that it was giving him significant problems in executing the iagb, therefore giving him problems in the two matches he lost to Chris G and Online/Offline Tony.

Wasn't it his own pad?

this game has good balance but yes like in anyother fighter there is bad matchups people keep talking about kung lao dominating but there is a lot of characters with a 5-5 or 6-4 matchup against kung lao and a 6-4 matchup is not a bad matchup at all

MK is kinda dope
What's w/the SF vs MK comparisons over and over? Capcom is the poster child of Evo. If anybody truly expected Mk to outshine MvC3 and SSF4AE when people came across the GLOBE (not the country) to attend, it's pure ignorance. MK has had shitty games for nearly a decade and NOW that we have a great one, it will take lots of time to catch up/surpass other games. MK had 8k viewers, that's great.

What's the goal for the MK community? To have MK AGAIN next year. What helped this? The performance of 8 different players w/9 different chars. Find another game that's american made and their first time at Evo had 9 different chars, please show me that. Wait until the SF/MvC3 crowd is watching the MK9 finals, I promise you will feel the room shake.

I've been to Evo twice and there is no hype like it, but new games don't get love for a long time. Hell I remember the 2D community taking a shit when 3D games like Tekken were added and now look. Everybody drink a beer and relax:)

As much as i like the upsets in MK i would have rather seen Aris, Valle, Justin Wong, Michealangelo, Arturo and Tom Brady make it in top 8, purely because they are all well known and respected players, which gives the matches hype even without trying. When Valle lost to ATL Redd i was pretty sad about that, as much as ATL Redd is a good player i can't stand Liu Kang, probably one of the most boring characters to see(sorry Liu Kang fans) If it may seem a bit biased, well that is because it is.

Slips was put into losers by Konqrr and knocked out by 16 bit.
Terrible luck of the draw because when we were training, he specifically told me that he had zero kitana experience and was worried bout fighting konqrr in pools, he ended up fighting nothing but kitanas......

He should of been in that top 8...

Ah don't make excuses man. Anytime Brady made an excuse about something the whole internet blew him up. It's not fair to say well michelangelo would have won but...

He lost because he got outplayed. But... I have already seen someone in this thread saying he's BAD now because he lost. Dude is a GREAT player, I don't see how anyone can argue that.

Great showing so far all around though.. Wish Konqrr would have made it to top 8... those mirror matches near the end of the stream were SO intense. The Shang vs Shang one too. Alex turning around after that win and telling Ballin "your soul is mine" was so awesome LOL. Ahhh this game looks so fantastic when two high level players are going at it.

nobody can say that he's a bad player
i stated that disappointed me for not showing himself improved as the other kabal players were

i had an hint about this twice: first time in the 88 clan war - second time in the 24 live training for evo
but i just tought that he was keeping some aces for the evo

if you wanto to keep your top player status you need to improve every time
next tournament, there'll be a whole lot more of good players (if mk will keep audience interested) and you can't rely on the same tools and gimmicks for years

Not saying he wouldve won but FACT IS HE CLAIMS he had problems with execution with that pad that he didnt have to use for prior tourneys and the commentators felt it made a noticeable diff. Im not making excuses Im just stating what happened.

Besides why is it whenever someone analyzes how someone lost its automatically making excuses? Seriously this happens in every form of comp.

"Oh that guy lost"
"Yeah it mitve been because of thi..."
"STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM MAN, HE GOT BEAT!!"
"...ok?"

This isnt directed to you but just a general thing Ive observed.

Kind of sad that it has 3k more views than MK at the moment
Well if you compare the stream, yesterday the Main stream, SSF4 AE, had around 35,000. Now the main stream, MvC3, has 25,000. So it's not that people are more interested in Tekken, it's just SSF4 AE was taking a lot of the stragglers yesterday.

I'll have to agree that Slips is the best Scorp that I have seen..
Very true. Slips plays Scorpion so smoothly you almost forget he's a high-risk character.

I think the biggest surprise this weekend was Jwong's Raiden. When I saw him take out Raiden, I rolled my eyes and thought "great, he went from boring Kung Lao to boring-er Raiden", but holy goddamn. He definitely played one of the more interesting Raidens I've seen, and there was a lot more to his game than just lame teleport spam. I hate to put JOP on blast, but uh... His Raiden play was about as boring as you'd expect Raiden play to be, and I expected the same from Wong. I was NOT prepared for what I saw.

That said, JOP's Cage was great to see, so I have to give him that.

Also, shoutouts to old man Valle, his Shang play was the stuff of legend. It's really too bad he got eliminated by a bland fucking Liu Kang with his three buttons of doom, because I really wanted to see more of that. Shoutouts to Brady willingly giving himself to a bad matchup just to put on a show for the fans as well, especially when he knows Art Sanchez is no slouch. Good stuff all around.

Actually SSF4 had about 25k until like 6~ then it shot up. Nobody wants to watch pool play in any game.

I'm sure MvC3 will hit 30k+ in the later end of the tourney.

But in any case, girl commentator = 30% more viewers

edit mvc3 is already hovering around 29k/30k
MK9 needs international support in order to get big numbers.

I always thought of picking up LK because the awesome mixups in close and good enough zoning for a heavy rushdown char. Nice to see him get represented well.

Stream was mad hype for the true fans of MK and w/the top 8 tomorrow, it's gonna be insane
I'm a true fan of MK.

I was not so hype about seeing randoms play when we didn't get to see REO vs. Michaelangelo, or any of Jwong/Pig of the Hut. We also didn't get to see Milky Situation eliminate Trophy Club and Banana Ken, which is a pretty big deal given how reputable they both are.

I'm pretty disappointed in the top 8 turnout, especially now that Valle is out, but I'll still watch for REO, PL and Chris G. There's a really good Subs player in there as well, so I'll want to see that anyhow.

Yh it was very disappointing how some of the best matches weren't streamed. Would have loved to see REO vs Michelangelo hope somebody recorded that.

Everybodys opinion is different I guess, but most people are really excited there are 8 different chars in there and on the stream, there were great matches. People focus on the names so much and not the matches. Nobody knew who Devil Jim was (outside of Tekken and Soul Calibur where he is nationally known) until he almost peaced out Perfect Legend
