For everyone that's surprised a cyrax didn't make top 8 remember this.no matter how good or broken a character is if the player is not good then the character won't be either we players make the characters good not the other way around.yeah cyrax might do crazy damage with one bar but so fucking what? Do I think it should be nerfed? Yes a little less damage and that's it I play jax one of the "worst"characters in the game and my bother plays cyrax and we go back and forth why?1.I adapt 2.I learned the matchup 3.not to sound cocky but I think I'm a good mk player.so to all you cyrax haters that don't know shit about the character stop complaing and deal with it.you know how hard it is to play cyrax? He is one of the harder character to play believe it or not trust me I've been fighting cyrax since the game came out.so please just stop with the nerf this nerf that is so annoying. the AE competition, matches, and hype were just a lot better than MK9s. every single match in the top 64 in ae was so good throughout the whole night. all i play is mk9 right now but i spent more time watching the sf stream because their was alot of subpar play and lack of hype in the mk top 64. the game is never going to get the following or interest that sf gets because the game does not have one tenth of the depth, skill, or excitement that sf has. detroitballn vs valle is the only match in 12 hours of streaming even worth remembering. please stop trying to put mk9 in the same class as ssf4 because youre comparing checkers to chess...anyways gl to top 8.

If I cared about AE that much I wouldn't be here. So I will now say" I don't care" and it's pretty obvious that we don't care about AE.

MK is doing a lot better than most people would have ever imagined. They need to stop hating and pretending because like it or not MK ain't going nowhere!

Anyway, the stream yesterday was so hype. I can't wait for Sunday! I was impressed by Perfect Legend sticking it out once again. I honestly though he was going to lose, but he clutched it out hardcore. Also Online Tony really impressed me with his Kabal.

Perfect Legend is so clutch; he very nearly went out to a Mileena earlier in the tournament but his comeback in that macth was immense. He must have so much momentum and confidence now. PL was kind of my pick to win before the tournament and I have a good feeling it's going to be Reo vs Perfect Legend in the GF.

I only saw one match with him during the tournament and he played with Kung Lao. If he dropped Kung Lao then I would have respect for him but I am assuming he went with his word and did not use sub as his main.

I have the utmost respect for him and what he has done, I just did not like his SZ choices. Please leave it at that.

The only one I saw was pretty bad and he got murdered by Michaelangelo. Still don't get why he switched to Stryker lol. He can't even zone Kabal.

Just remember that every time you hear the much repeated "MK9 has no depth," the poster will never actually articulate why.

Edit: To clarify, I think a lot of shit in MK9 is brainless, like too safe wakeups, Raiden's teleport startup being unpunishable or not being able to stuff Kabal's projectiles. There's a lot of little inconsistencies in the game that make it look stupid. But it's not the lack of footsies that makes MK9 lack depth.

Uh, I think its a bit early to write off MK9 like that. Its only been our 4 months, and there was just a SZ played like nobody's seen before.

I hate to admit it but he's kinda right.

I like both games and was alternating streams every now and then. The contrast was pretty huge. Both in numbers, on commentary, in hype, in level of play, in excitement. It's like SSF4 was a whole different event altogether. MK9 on stream didn't look like EVO I'm sad to say. It looked like a little side thing to the real event. Like Tom Brady keeps saying: perception is reality.

Big screen and huge crowd watching SF = huge hype
James Chen, Seth Killian and Ultradavid on commentary = huge hype
A lot of incredible high level matches being actually streamed = huge hype

A couple of guys watching MK9 pools on TV screens = not so hype
Random guys commentating matches = not so hype
Average players getting blown up by Michaelangelo, REO and Chris G = not so hype
The best matches not even being streamed = not so hype

Get the most exiting MK9 match and compare it to Justin Wong vs Mago or Poongko vs Filipino Champ. It doesn't even come close.

That's why a solid netcode is so important: bigger community, more players, more entrants, more viewers. And a good training mode means higher levels of play means more exiting matches.

I strongly disagree with this though..

Truth is MK still has a long way to go. But I'm confident one day it'll be as big as SF. Just keep fighting for your game. But don't think the battle is won just because your game is at this year's EVO.

pick his performance from revelations or pdp or whatever other tournament he attended
he played the same after months from those events while each other player evolved in some kind of way (pressing, damage everything) and kabal's strings and damage improved as you can see with warda

but if you can't see this, really no point in discussing

judging by the level of most players there (including the so famous ryan hart and the lame fighstick fat chick)
i am sure i would have not sucked that much

i followed the stream since the beginning, most matches were between players that barely knew their character moveset

plus i still do not see mike in top8 so really learn to argument a little better your statements

People have to remember that SF has such a huge history. The people watching AE at EVO aren't just SFIV fans, they're just SF fans, and fans of the names. MK can have that in a few years, it just needs to keep growing and evolving. I see this as a rebirth for MK. I mean, they didn't call it just "Mortal Kombat" for no reason.

Top 8 will be on the big screen, and I'm sure it'll be very hype. And next year, there should be more participants and thus more hype. Plus I'm sure we'll be getting some more big names being created before the next EVO.
