personally I'm not too hype to see a liu kang in top 8 because I feel he is better than cage up close and against zoners, plus his playstyle is boring...

kung lao is more fun to watch than liu...

Gotta admit... when Alex was playing Daigo, I was watching that over the MK stream. Just that match though because I heard Seth and UltraDavid discussing the history behind that matchup.

I don't like or own AE, but the game has so much damn hype you find yourself watching.

MK would pull in those kind of numbers if it was developed by a Japanese company, was in Japanese arcades, featured anime style art and loli characters. Nuff said.

I dont really like the Japanese stylisation for their fighting games and... stuff in general. So I think Boon (american) and midway/nrs(american) give us fighting gamers another option and more diverse style of games. Though I do respect Tekken and would love to see some of the Tekken people in an MK style universe with fatalities. Like that robot guy.

even so 8 thousand viewers is still a good number.. best number ive seen for mk ever on stream.. so thats a good sign. its gonna take some time to get to the numbers sf gets, sf has 20+ yrs of great games, in those 20+ yrs mk just started making good games (umk3 not included, that game is godlike).. we takin baby steps here..

I only saw one match with him during the tournament and he played with Kung Lao. If he dropped Kung Lao then I would have respect for him but I am assuming he went with his word and did not use sub as his main.

I have the utmost respect for him and what he has done, I just did not like his SZ choices. Please leave it at that.

There should be a 32-man tournament where only the best player for each character is invited (including DLC/Kratos). That would be interesting to see who wins.

Yeah but that was MK running solo, this si running against AE which was so many people hyped from around the World. A check the EVO site, Capcom, check G4, Capcom, Capcom this, marvel is gonna DESTROY Tekken (I think) tommorow, it's pretty obvious that Capcom has the hype for EVO. But 8K for the first EVO, can only go up from there.

You cannot compare Street Fighter to Mortal Kombat. SF has all the big names, but not just from the United States but also from Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, etc.

8k was great for MK first showing at evo. You can't expect MK to get sf4 view numbers when it just came out. Besides as others said SF is more known worldwide.

Plus, SF has stablished a big competitve community over the years, MK not so much, although there was always a group of dedicate players, who stayed side by side with the series since forever(like TYM crew), plus, SF is in the main stream and big screen, this evo has been great for mk so far IMO, and if the top 8 put up a big show on sunday, i feel that mk will comeback next year.

Good luck to everbody, may the best win, but as Tom Brady said, the greatest win will be, to make MK "return" from this evo stronger than when it entered.

For everyone that's surprised a cyrax didn't make top 8 remember this.no matter how good or broken a character is if the player is not good then the character won't be either we players make the characters good not the other way around.yeah cyrax might do crazy damage with one bar but so fucking what? Do I think it should be nerfed? Yes a little less damage and that's it I play jax one of the "worst"characters in the game and my bother plays cyrax and we go back and forth why?1.I adapt 2.I learned the matchup 3.not to sound cocky but I think I'm a good mk player.so to all you cyrax haters that don't know shit about the character stop complaing and deal with it.you know how hard it is to play cyrax? He is one of the harder character to play believe it or not trust me I've been fighting cyrax since the game came out.so please just stop with the nerf this nerf that is so annoying. Learn to play the game.

the AE competition, matches, and hype were just a lot better than MK9s. every single match in the top 64 in ae was so good throughout the whole night. all i play is mk9 right now but i spent more time watching the sf stream because their was alot of subpar play and lack of hype in the mk top 64. the game is never going to get the following or interest that sf gets because the game does not have one tenth of the depth, skill, or excitement that sf has. detroitballn vs valle is the only match in 12 hours of streaming even worth remembering. please stop trying to put mk9 in the same class as ssf4 because youre comparing checkers to chess...anyways gl to top 8.

Give it some time. that's like saying the Bulls or the Thunder won't win a championship all because they have a young roster. Give it time man. and there was hype for mk. We had lots of unknowns put on a show. It's better to have some unknown shock us instead of seeing someone we already know put on a show.
