GGA's GBS Ruleset for Injustice - Can the community agree on one ruleset?

Can the entire Injustice community agree to use the same stage/character select rules?

Except that the game will often reset your buttons.

People should definitely learn how to do them quicker. It should take 10-15 seconds max.
There is nothing random about what happens with the buttons.

PS3: There are 4 total presets shared between each player. So if I'm on preset 1 then you join in and change preset 1 you've changed both of our controls. If you press default and save it resets all 4 controls to default.

Xbox: There are 4 presets for each profile that are not shared by the players. (The only way they share the presets is if both players are not signed into a profile.) Hitting default and saving will reset all your own controls to default but will not change the other player's controls.

Fair enough, but would you not be pissed if someone unknowingly defaults and changes your controls?

Almost everything is on Xbox now. There is no reason for button checks on Xbox. It's a time wasting tradition that needs to go.

The way I handle that is ask the other player if they are set, then look at my controls without saving one last time. All that said I'm guilty of going into a button check just because I'm nervous I'll be in the middle of the match and realize throw and interact are flipped or something. So I get where you are coming from but 16bit is right, it needs to go. The more time we spend playing in tournament the better. Maybe if the entire community gets down the fast button checks we will actually be able to run tournaments at 3 of 5 instead of 2 of 3.

I would be happy with the Han rule set. Apart from turning release check off I just stick with the default button layout anyway. The stage stuff I think is spot on, after watching GBS I started random stage picks whenever I play online as I think it better prepares me for when I eventually play in a tournament and I think it's good to practice that way. I've learned a lot of individual stuff for stages since then.

I don't understand why people won't just admit that Atlantis is the most neutral stage in the game. It's like the Courtyard Day of MK9, it's like the Final Destination of Smash Bros.
No, Batcave [Crime Lab] is definitely the most neutral stage in the game. The interactables are used the same by all characters. Throwing grenades at someone, smacking them against the computer, and shooting rockets at your enemy.

Yeah but some of those interactables can lead to stupid damage and resets. There are no resets on Atlantis, there are no stupid interactables on Atlantis

I'd say this is the best rule set, you also need to make sure people don't pull what PL did this weekend and look at both of the double random stages after asking player 2 to go to stage select screen, hitting (A), then going back to character select screen to choose the better fitting stage. I do like chefs suggestion to only go with the 2nd double random stage, but some how I feel people are just gonna fuck that up, lol.

You are so full of shit (If you're not trolling) last time I saw you you said that Atlantis is the best stage for batman in your opinion! Get fucked!

Yeah but certain characters (i.e acrobatic characters) are at a disadvantage on that stage. I don't really know why the "acrobatic" characters are in the game. On Batcave everyone uses interactables the same, so I prefer that over all other stages.

lol well I have changed my opinions since those times. I definitely think Batman has wayyyy dirtier stuff on Alley and Batcave and even other stages. I said Atlantis was his best stage at like Summer Jam! hahaha

True, I'll give you that one. I didn't really put acrobatic characters into the equation. You can use the water hoses on the sides of the map :p

Except that neither Courtyard Day nor Final Destination have interactables that directly affect the gameplay.

...okay, maybe that's not so true. In Smash Bros, items fall into the match at random occasions, whereas in MK9 the only difference between the levels was the length, and yet the length still influenced some match-ups. Kabal on Rooftop Day, anyone?

If you want to say that Atlantis's interactables cause the least amount of annoyance compared to the ones from all the other levels, then I would agree, but in my eyes it still does not count as a "neutral" level. In Injustice, there's no such thing as a neutral level as long as interactables remain in effect.

While we're on the subject of interactables, I don't have a problem playing with them enabled, but can someone explain to me why we have yet to run a tournament in which they're banned? Maybe try one as an experiment and compare its results to that of tournaments where interactables were legal and we might be surprised by the results. If it goes well enough, we might have eliminated the concern that comes with stage selection, or at least reduced the amount of things affecting gameplay to only one thing: stage length, like with MK9.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, since I've seen interactables receive a heavy amount of discussion since the release of the game...but what would it hurt to try out the above suggestion? And if it doesn't go so well, then we defer back to the old way of things and go from there.

Anyway, GGA HAN 's rules appear to be the most compromising by far. I'd recommend that all Injustice communities out there adopt these rules, so that we avoid another round of confusion like at Frosty Faustings.

.
Hence why I said most neutral

Right, it just so happens that in the "best" stage Batman can camp in one corner with one bat, zone as much as he wants and if anyone dashes or jumps in release bat and press interactible until dead.

These rules seem fine to me. The only thing that I disagree with is the lack of button checks. I only did not do a button check twice throughout all of FF and sure enough, one of my buttons was messed up. Thankfully, it didn't cost me. It takes no more than 10 seconds and we can do quick restart once its done. Also FOREVER KING Atlantis is not at all neutral. It allows you to zipline over zoning and gives you UNLIMITED access to the water tanks on both sides. The closest thing to a neutral stage is batcave imo.

I think any games where buttons can be set at the char select should ban button checks. If you set your button by pressing it, then you know it works.
I think there is a bug where controls can be overwritten somehow. I honestly forget if that is the case, but I have set my buttons before and had to go back in and change them because they had been overwritten by another pre-set. Normally I would be in total favor of this though.

If you want "neutral stages" then just ban interactables, otherwise universally playing on one stage because it's the "most neutral" (which is highly debatable anyway) while keeping them on is pointless. I'm all for keeping interactables, and double random is fine.

That could be a PS3 problem though and not exist on the 360.

Now then, i'm curious on what the penalties are going to be for these violations...
