i mean that in regards to downloading dumb shit un/intentionally. even if you torrent a lot, you can avoid downloading any harmful things if you know what you're doing. of course there's always that chance so yolo take no risks, but you shouldn't need to shell out for a serious antivirus if you're not doing really stupid stuff. also don't forget adblock because adblock is life.
i forgot to mention from personal experience NOD32 was my favorite AV for gaming computers since it doesn't really need a lot of memory. bitdefender is total sex as well, but i haven't used the most recent one, so i'm not sure whether it hogs anything or not, the memory it used on the version i used was nbd. kaspersky and norton, while i hear positive things about them, i would still never use simply because kaspersky has fucked my computer in the past by missing a ton of malware and norton was pretty famous for being absolute shit (though apparently it no longer is).
