Xbox One Dpad swindle!

knowing that the quality of the Dpad on the 360 controller is on of the biggest criticisms, Xbox One set out to improve its word of mouth instead of the Dpad itself. To get early positive reviews, Microsoft has issued two versions of the Xbox One controller with instantly noticeable difference between the quality of the buttons as a whole.

The top controller is the "Day One Edition" controller with custom buttons, tighter sticks, and of course the best Dpad I have ever used in my life. Notice that the Dpad itself is made of a metal chrome like material. This version of the Xbox One controller was only given out to day 1 preorders and media/press personnel souly for good word of mouth first impressions to influence the wallets of hardcore gamers. The controller costs several hundreds of dollars to produce a single unit.

The bottom controller is the retail Xbox One controller that is available to the public. The sticks are nothing to really wright home about, the buttons are more limp in comparison, and the Dpad is a piece of shit. Notice that the Dpad is made of a plain black plastic and feels cheep to the touch. After playing KI for about 6 hours I noticed some wearing making it looser despite it being brand new. The controller is made cheaply to be affordable to all and is made from melted down 360 controllers.

What are your thoughts on this? Personally this rubs me the wrong way in so many ways. Iv been playing KI and notice a HUGE difference in execution. Without the arcade sticks released, some players out there have a massive unfair advantage over the other players. This advantage can make the difference in tournament play. While some players will have to practice hard to be able to nail there notions every time, day 1 players won't. It will just work for them because of KIs tight input detection. So if your dropping combos in KI and having trouble doing dragon punches you may want to check your controller. It may not be your fault

Hopefully in the near future Microsoft will release the good controllers to the public. Even if they are an extra $100 in price its entirely worth it just to get clean inputs.

Thoughts?

This does not surprise me at all to be honest if this is true. I've never really bought into Microsoft caring about what gamers think and want. If they used these controllers to get good feedback in focus groups and then cheapened the controller up to the point where it degraded quality, it sucks for Xbone owners.

Day 1 PS4 controllers to shelf life PS4 Controller has no noticeable difference at all. Just saying :(

eventually there super controllers will wear out in a few years. Hopefully very abusive owners will eat burgers and play without washing there hands to the point it goes extinct. Im gonna buy the first day one sealed xbox online and buy it for what ever price they ask for. Apparently it had to be worth it because we only know this next shipment will have the intended xbox one hardware.
what if there is difference's with the kinect? kinda freaks you out as a consumer not knowing exactly what your gonna be paying for

seems right up microsoft's alley to do something like this, after the drm fiasco and all the policies they initially planned for xbone to have (but had to remove beause ps4 had none of them) nothing they do surprises me.

The xbone dpad is fine for fighters like MK or Injustice but it is terrible for KI. It looks like the snes dpad but it does not play like that dpad. The problem with this dpad is it's way too low. When you do qcf or qcb motion, you have to do it close to the center of the dpad in order to hit the downforward or downback diagonal. If you use it like a normal dpad, the diagonals will drop in a qcf motion.

I have both and really had not noticed a difference. For qcb, I do hcb for the move to come out right every time. Even though I played solely with the d-pad on MK, I am using both the d-pad and stick on KI. To me the stick is crispier, unless it is jago's uppercut... I can only get that every time on the d-pad

I have both and they feel the same. Not great dpad-wise, but not a piece of shit either.
