knowing that the quality of the Dpad on the 360 controller is on of the biggest criticisms, Xbox One set out to improve its word of mouth instead of the Dpad itself. To get early positive reviews, Microsoft has issued two versions of the Xbox One controller with instantly noticeable difference between the quality of the buttons as a whole.
The top controller is the "Day One Edition" controller with custom buttons, tighter sticks, and of course the best Dpad I have ever used in my life. Notice that the Dpad itself is made of a metal chrome like material. This version of the Xbox One controller was only given out to day 1 preorders and media/press personnel souly for good word of mouth first impressions to influence the wallets of hardcore gamers. The controller costs several hundreds of dollars to produce a single unit.
The bottom controller is the retail Xbox One controller that is available to the public. The sticks are nothing to really wright home about, the buttons are more limp in comparison, and the Dpad is a piece of shit. Notice that the Dpad is made of a plain black plastic and feels cheep to the touch. After playing KI for about 6 hours I noticed some wearing making it looser despite it being brand new. The controller is made cheaply to be affordable to all and is made from melted down 360 controllers.
What are your thoughts on this? Personally this rubs me the wrong way in so many ways. Iv been playing KI and notice a HUGE difference in execution. Without the arcade sticks released, some players out there have a massive unfair advantage over the other players. This advantage can make the difference in tournament play. While some players will have to practice hard to be able to nail there notions every time, day 1 players won't. It will just work for them because of KIs tight input detection. So if your dropping combos in KI and having trouble doing dragon punches you may want to check your controller. It may not be your fault
Hopefully in the near future Microsoft will release the good controllers to the public. Even if they are an extra $100 in price its entirely worth it just to get clean inputs.
