Yojimzo Cage Redfield I'm watching Jojo's, when does Joseph Joestar appear and in what time period is it set?

He appears after the first arc with Jonathon Joestar, called "Phantom Blood". Joseph's arc is called "Battle Tendency" and it takes place in the late 40's.
