Reptile Orion

A Fire Will Rise.
Alrighty guys. Remember the tournament idea that has been brought up? Its time! So before I make a thread for it, I want to get your thoughts on a couple of things:

Format - Double Elim or Round Robin.? On one hand double elim is better to prep for tournament settings offline, BUT round robin is better to learn match ups and get everyone more acquainted with one another. I am leaning towards round robin, what do you guys think?

Frequency - I am thinking every two weeks we can have a new bracket. I think this way, we will have matches always going on and plenty of interaction between team mates and such. Thoughts?

Stream - I dont know the logistics of how to make this happen, but I would like to start streaming high level NRF play and uploading them, either in tournament or just sets. Need an expert to chime in here.
------

Additionally, I really want to see hella activity in this thread. :) I luv you guys, and I would hate to see our thread just be business talk. (I'm guilty as well)With our current roster more or less set in stone for the time being, excepting special cases, we don't have the craziness of prospecting to get in the way of a little friendly conversation. Get to know your team, fellas. I feel like I still have not talked to a bunch of ya. That makes me a sad panda as I like knowing you guys as people, not just players.

Also, if you have any ideas on cool things we can do as a team to get our names out there as players; pod casts, tech vids, weekly match up focus, being friends on facebook, face book group..whatever..throw em out. We are all equals here and I want us all to beast it out more and more every day. Okay enough rambling from me :)
I would prefer to do Double Elimination in order to prep for tournament play. I do like the idea or Round Robin and would like to do it from time to time.

As far as frequency goes every two weeks would be fine.

I've looked into streaming equipment and leaning toward buying the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition in the near future. IGN just published an article discussing the pros and cons of various equipment.

I'm also glad you mentioned about hella activity in the thread :). I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone on a more personal level. It makes running sets and KOTH more exciting.

I'm all about the internet marketing. I recommend that we have a dedicated NRF page on Twitch. We can also level up faster if we all focus on one match up a week. This is something I was trying to do with the "Ocean's 8" (Beef and Zoid know about the crew :D). I'm not a big Facebook user but being all of us being active on Skype would be very cool. We should also consider starting a blog for the clan which would serve as our main hub. Posts could include tech, matchup discussions, strategies, character guides, opinions, etc from various members. I don't see any clans out there doing this. I have done a ton of research into building and marketing a blog so I can help with this. If we go that route we could incorporate the videos and podcasts into blog posts.

Hopefully this helps.

Emo mode over. Expect me to enter the time chamber and come out a true master.

Also, i sincerely appreciate everyone's support.

So, what do we have planned this week?

And another thought I had...

Whenever I play in our sessions or any of you in sets, I tend to listen to music. Do you guys do the same?

Some of the stuff I listen to:

The Deftones
Florance and The Machine
Marilyn Manson
Manowar
Andre Nickatina
Dethklok
Iced Earth
Aesop Rock
Esham
Alice In Chains
The list goes on.

So for those who do the same, what do you guys listen to?

Most of my week will not be spent playing matches due to school/girlfriend stuffs, but Saturday I should be good to go. Maybe a little on Friday.

It would have to be "Knife Prty" off of White Pony. Which is, in case you are wondering, not ONLY the best Deftones album ever made, but probably the best album of "nu-metal." Ever.

Everyone I talk to has a different opinion on what their favorite deftone's song/album is.
I guess that's a good thing. My personal favorite now is: "Entombed" from Koi No Yokan,
but it used to be " Pink Maggit" from White Pony.

I haven't given Koi No Yokan a fair listen, yet. I need to. They're a group that can really put you in a focused mind-set, at least for me. Plus, it's damn good tunes all around.

I dunno. I wasn't feeling Saturday Night Wrist. Something about it just didn't click with me.

Otherwise, you're right on the money.

Format - As far as tournament preparation goes double elimination would more consistent with actual tournament rules but personally, and for the purpose of practice, I am a fan of round robin. Round robin will be more efficient in helping us become more accustomed with each others' play styles and match ups which in turn will allow for better communication between us all for match up advice as we will all be more familiar with each others' current metas; of course, I'm assuming that each of these elements are contributing factors to the purpose of the tournaments.

Frequency - Every two weeks sounds about right to me or some similar interval that will work for us all.

Publicity(?) - Getting our names out as players individually is obviously important to be able to establish ourselves as a solid team. To do this my suggestions would be to participate within our main's sub forum to become a known member in our cast member's community, participate in streamed matches if possible(if our matches are streams, recording our own matches, playing in streamed KoTHs like PJFrauds, etc.), and lastly if we have a local tournament nearby, go to it. In my opinion before we attempt to do podcasts or anything of this nature as outreach we need to become more established as a team within the community as to actually acquire the following to have people watch/listen. The best option we currently have as a team would probably be to challenge/set up a match against another team(not quite sure how this is done).

Thread Activity - This will probably take care of itself once we begin our tournaments/practice routine.

When playing I dont really listen to music but when I do im listening to stuff like KoRn, Dope, Soad, Skillet, RED, Drowning Pool, Breaking Point, Metallica, Pantera, Haji's Kitchen, Godsmack, and Rob Zombie.

Also techno/dubstep so stuff like Skrillex and also OST's. Love listening to music from video games, animes, and movies.

Reptile theme is so hype.

A child of the 90's, I like it. I have a few video game OSTs in rotation. Stuff from Castlevania, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, and Breath of Fire, mostly. Probably Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, too, now that I'm thinking about it. Few things are as godlike as winning a match to the Snake Eater theme.
