Should it be looked at?

After watching a bunch of tournament vids recently I realized how much this bugs me, now for the most part it's whatever but in a few cases the meter you build off of MB moves is kind of nuts. Curious how people feel about this?

Are you saying you dont like that moves give meter when meter burned, or that certain moves build too much meter on meter burn?

Ya I have noticed that too. It's a bit much imo and adds to a meter-game that isnt very deep.

Anyone got some videos or notes of MB moves and the amount of meter they build back? This thread will become kind of sketchy without some data as some MB moves dont have a lot of utility to them and it may be needed on a few. Lets go deep here because this is a pretty good topic for discussion.

It's fine and should remain the way it is.

Why? Because there are characters that depend heavily on meter to function: e.g. Doomsday, Scorpion, Sinestro, just to name a few. Whereas you have characters that stock meter like crazy: e.g. Green Arrow, Harley.

Which is one of my gripes with the game. Characters that need to MB moves constantly rarely use Pushblock and MB B3 / F3, while the battery characters don't know what to do with their surplus meter.

Aquaman's df1 MB on hit cost 1/3 a bar. :>

The reason Arrow stocks his meter is because it's not really useful for anything outside of Super and MB B3.

No problem.

The fact that other characters have more options with their meter including those two options sort of limits them.. I think that was your point, right?
Exactly.

In my opinion these are the main design flaws with Injustice:

*Every single mechanic costs meter. Pushblock or armored B3 / F3 should have had their own cost.

*The balance of meter usage is completely wrong across the board. You either 1) never build enough meter to use all your options, 2) sit on too much meter because you lack options, 3) have great options and always build meter.

Kouldn't agree more...

Yeah I agree that it's fine the way it is so AM builds a bunch back that's the only really bad one there seems to be apparently. That's only on hit it does chip but if you block it just wait until he MB's it then push block. I really feel things like these and even just changing the walking speed, would change the game a lot more than some people think and it could be in a bad way.

I agree with this but at the same time, it is very hard to get characters off their meter to gain an advantage. The characters you mentioned always have meter to burn, at least it seems like it to me when I play them. And with meter they have a way to build the meter back easily thus never really getting penalized for wasting meter. They get a disadvantage when it comes to clashes, but even then the clash always has a winning factor for zoners ( who are the ones that seem to be most guilty of this never ending meter phenomena).

Precisely, take the Top 3: Superman, Black Adam and Martian Manhunter. Among other reasons, they are top tier because they have excellent MB moves and build back all the meter they spend.

The reason Arrow stocks his meter is because it's not really useful for anything outside of Super and MB B3.
He gets 24% on MB Sky Alert if all of it hits and 22% on MB Dead on. In addition his MB stinger is needed to help push his opponent back on his midscreen combos badly in matches where you are getting outzoned and cannot just rely on ice arrow resets if you haven't gotten any loaded yet. No loaded ice generally means you need stinger and MB stinger nets you the corner to help recover your pressure game and go crazy.

Green Arrow meter build is so that he can
  1. actually get tick combo damage off his in and out game
  2. get a bit more off of savage blast and stinger in either terms of corner push or spacing midscreen
  3. super reset
Green Arrow isn't just the super resets and B3. Smart players realize that to remain a threat they need to use his meter to help themselves achieve the best screen position for his offensive game...ie use it to corner folks or failing that use it so that you can chip away at them with dead on/ sky alert in and out damage.
Green Arrow is not free. He's high mixup potential, but he can be out zoned and his damage reward is small. He pretty much HAS to constantly be fishing for resets and if you got him in a scenario where he misses an ice shot his next combo is crippled unless he starts using meter to augment his regular tools.
