Long time lurker, but I finally decided to register. Overall, I'm impressed with the level of communication on TYM. I can see there are a lot of hard core tourney types here and I have a lot of respect for that, though I'm not even close to being in that league.
I remember walking past a mall arcade in the 90's and seeing MK for the first time, and it was (and still is) the end-all, be-all of fighting games for me. I like MKI -- that's where I came into the scene. I LOVE the MKI Kombo hack (Nifty Kombo and the better "Turbo" revision - I would never have been able to face Reptile without that revision).
I still have the original PCB's for MK, MKII, MK3, UMK3, and MK4... I have an eprom burner that lets me plug in whatever version is out there (thanks MAME team! -- hey, I want the MK4 betas -- someone has to have them... and the wavenet roms -- where the heck are those? Much thanks to whoever did the Juggernaut hack -- brilliant!).
I don't know if I mentioned it, but I really suck at MK. I love it, it's tons of fun, but I'm not a skilled player -- I marvel at some of these combo videos -- it shows me what's possible).
OK, one final rant before I sign off -- hey UMK3 players -- I'm sick of seeing H.Smoke and Kabal in the finals. If you want to really throw down the gauntlet, beat the competition with one of the many characters we never see... Seriously, that would be an epic win.
