MK is kinda dope
If one stupid ass thing fucks you up constantly, dont cry about it to the developers, lab it out and get a strategy for it.
1) Most players will not do this. Most players are the online community and companies will cater to them.

2) It's the internet, people love to bitch and complain about the same thing over and over. One top player makes a game saying it's boring, another frequent complainer makes a thread saying stop complaining. Test your might is a very relaxed site, mods don't get on people for creating stupidity like this. SRK does not allow this garbage, nor does Tekken Zaibatsu. I love this site to death, love NRS but it is what it is at this point.

this is what I and others hoped wouldn't happen....... smh. All I (and some others) wanted was for us to just play mk9 and injustice, have fun, create hype, and keep doing that until mk10 came out. Instead, we have ppl on the mk side and the injustice side and we are pretty much having a civil war lol. I have as much fun doing d4 to ms to f+1 in mk9 as I do doing jump 3s with deathstroke, doesn't really matter because both games (in fact all games to be really honest) have stuff that is very good and can be used multiple times in a fight, big deal, it isn't like it has changed and it won't be changing anyways. So I say, why don't we all just have fun with injustice and make sure every tournament is hype and memorable then we can go to mk10 and do the same thing. I've seen way too many threads about (oh injustice is better) or (mk9 is definitely the better game). This argument over which game is more fun/better is pointless and it'll never end and we are wasting so much damn time arguing when we should be finding new tech for injustice characters and making sure we can see more characters at tournaments. I've said this before, I see why my bro doesn't go to TYM that much, the hostility here is like a plague and it is very easy to contract. So to end this off, STOP ARGUING AND LET'S GIVE THIS GAME (and even mk9 if we can) SOME YEARS AND HAVE A BUNCH OF HYPE TOURNAMENTS AND ETC. AND LET IT GO OUT WITH A BANG UNTIL MK10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna make this skill gap... disappear.
Perfect Legend, pretty sure this has been said already, but I think the characters that you tend to play are a big part of your reason for feeling this way. Batman has some mindgames depending on how you play him, but he is also pretty solid at spammy rushdown/zoning tactics. Doomsday is probably the spammiest character in the game and doesn't take a whole lot of thought to operate effectively. This is true of most of the S tier- Superman spams f23, Killer Frost can slide around all day (safe on block at least, vulnerable to jumps), Green Lantern has all sorts of safe spamming options, Black Adam can do whatever he wants with dive kicks and low lightning, etc etc etc. Once the game is more balanced, mind games are going to be alot more prevalent, but currently they are predominantly reserved for the low tier characters that you have to work really hard for wins with. As a Joker main, I certain hope some of the incoming balance patches fix this!

Exactly, thats why I was saying nobody wins. NRS gets complaints, hardcore/tournament fighters gets shit patched every month or so and the casuals just get more casual and complain. Shit is garbage

It's simple.. We normalize the superman.

I've always wondered why FG developers don't provide the users with much info on how to play the game effectively. They tell you what each button does, but that's it. They could easily level up the consumer base by providing basic guides for each character, rather than expecting casual players to go out of their way searching for the info.

Then again, they wouldn't sell quite as many guides that way I guess.

insomnia_ftw The average gamer wants to go home, crack open a beer, mash buttons online or w/their friends and when they start losing, find a way to trade it in. Allowing the user to keep winning will allow them to tell their other scrubby friends to buy the game. This is why SF/Marvel don't have this issue, they have an abundance of players.

The average gamer doesn't want to hear about sun tzu or david sirlin's way of winning or anything like that. It takes a rare gamer to truly want to dive into the FG community and NRS is trying (and some can argue failling) to please both parties, which is obviously not possible

i'm the one who said Injustice is way better than MK, but i still hate small chars with lack of footsie, spamming shit and unblockable interactables. Hope MK10 won't help this and will have more characters that need skill to play, my fingers hurt so much when i trained with Kabal lol but i love it. Still love and support Injustice :).

When I have tried teaching fighters to my friends, sometimes I email Domination 101 articles, Sirlin's playing to win. Footsie guides and anything else I consider as mandatory fighting game reading.

And I can count the number of friends that have stuck with a fighter longer than a few months, on one hand.

Even walking through the basics, or running sets, they get frustrated. No ordinary gamer likes losing all the time. Even if losing is the only way to get better. So long sessions with just me are never very long, a few loses and then it's off to play a co-op play or just turn the whole console off.

Exactly. You think Ultras are in SF for the hardcore gamer? They are there for the average gamer to have a fighting chance to come back. It's why X factor was created for Marvel 3. The games that sell the most are the ones that utilize hype. I gave up trying to teach people fighting games unless I knew they were really serious a long time ago.

I believe BlazBlue provided basic guides for each character.

First thing I want to say is Injustice: Gods Among Us is a great game and very well made.....however

For me competitively it is extremely boring. It is so slow paced in comparison to Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is more fun but the balancing is so ridiculous a lot of people don't want to play it. I feel like INJ has a lot of potential but it is so slow on top of that the strategies are all just spam this until it works. There really isn't a mind game behind anything at least not what I am used to. I don't want it to play like a carbon copy of another game but I would like to actually have to use my brain.

Yes I know I am considered one of the top players in the game but I get bored playing this game. Even in MK's practice mode I could sit there just doing stuff but in this game I'm just like ugh. It feels like a chore to play it.

i been saying this since day 1

everyone just says "its not mk! blah blah, you probably suck at the game"

although picking up a new char has made me somewhat have more fun now.

Largely depends on the MUs in both games.

For example I could bring Sub Zero mirrors MKs as a counter-argument, saying "MK is a boring game to watch competitvely and is slow paced". But there is also fun matchups to watch. For every Sub Zero mirror, Kenshi vs. Johnny Cage, Kabal vs. the low tier, etc, Mortal Kombat also had Jax, Shang Tsung, and Scorpion, characters that were a blast to watch. (IMO)

As Injustice evolves, its going to be the same way. Yes, Superman, Green Lantern, and Black Adam are widely boring characters to watch in most matchups, and are unfortunately the poster child for this games' tournament state, but the other end of the tier will evolve, and the nerfs to Superman may help other characters shine in the spotlight.

Perhaps characters such as Lobo, Grundy, Bane, Shazam, Flash, Nightwing, Batgirl, Zod, Martian Manhunter, etc will have more time in the spotlight at majors and may be a blast to watch.

This isn't directly disagreeing with the OP, but more of an optimistic counter-argument.
i loved and still love playing/watching subzero mirrors
