NLBC Spooky Stream Drama

Well, unless it was obvious, there's not much to argue about. I don't like people assuming there was collusion just because they pick "odd" characters, but again, it was a weekly, not a big deal imo.

It's blowing up because Spooky literally pulled the plug out of the monitor and screamed "Get the fuck out!." so loud you could hear it clearly on the mic from 10 feet away. And when they tried to explain themselves, all Spooky said was "I don't give a fuck what they have to say."
He then threw a fit and wouldn't commentate the rest of the night.

Maybe he did, but they weren't even punished for it. He took them off them stream and they played off stream. Maybe he made assumptions about it since Chris has colluded before (allegedly), and acted prematurely about it. But again, it's not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. If this was a major or a tournament where a lot of people traveled to, I would understand people being upset about it.

Well, since Spooky also does streaming for a lot of the majors, this easily could have happened at any one of them.

Not saying he wouldn't have taken more time to sort it out and gone so far as to literally "Pull the plug" on the game in progress.

But I also think this has a lot to do with the whole collusion thing being put into question as soon as it became a big thing with SRK and Eventhubs. Constantly top players joking around about something like this happening and then for something similar to happen right out of the gate, and again, at a weekly. Which is why it's not a big deal, and yet is at the same time. Where as for a lot of people a weekly isn't gonna matter, but the plug got pulled there first before any major that holds the new collusion rules can even take place.

While I don;t think it's anything worth fighting over, I think some healthy discussion on the matter can really only do some good.

Ok you should explain why you hate spooky so much. You are obviously exaggerating him acting like a dictator. What is more important and the real issue is that if there was collusion, and, if there was, did Spooky do the right thing.

I think my bigger issue with it than even the plug getting pulled when I personally thought it was pre-mature to say if it was colluding, is that all commentating stopped and it kind of just became a giant mess of:

"Fuck them, who needs'em anyway"
"Fuck colluding"
"Fuck the FGC"
"DOTA2 is way better"
"If they pull this in Marvel fuck them I'm out"

Now, mind you, it was Marvel, so what's there to REALLY commentate, but I mean... Really...?

spooky really stepped over the line here and should apologize for this

1. its a video game... played FOR FUN
2. its a weekly
3. players are the one that decide who they play and when they play them... but i guess spooky feels that he decides who plays what character

Your opinion may not be popular here or wherever else for that matter but i wholeheartedly agree with you man.

It's a local...no one can tell you what character to use. Oh no don't use that, use what I think is your best bet, man gtfo.

If I took a shot for every time I heard them say "fuck" after the first few seconds of the match, I'd be dead... End of story.

And I don't think the MLG takes well to that much profanity. Not blaming them, but that is a common thing and I don't think it exactly helps.

Not going to lie, this is a fair point. It certainly wouldn't hurt if spooky calmly explained his position at some point so this doesn't become an issue.

i've seen this guy... 3-4 occasions now, get involved in a way that isn't productive to the greater tournament taking place.. and this whole 'but he puts in so much work to stream the events and gets paid little'..... that argument doesn't mean you're allowed to do whatever you want..... when they made this collusion rule, they weren't talking about weekly locals... LIKE WHO THE HELL HAS EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT THE POT SPLITTING AT LOCALS!?!?! NO ONE.... Arturo was running his mouth over and over about this collusion thing... art was basically saying 'this is happening right now, anyone gonna do anything?" and spooky jumped the gun and started yanking cords......

maybe the next person on a stream station that feels some monitor lag should start yanking the cords out of spookys setup and see how he feels about it all

How can anyone think Spooky is in the wrong here? People put in time and effort to set up and stream this stuff EVERY week. This shit probably happens at every one of these tournaments and everyone there probably knows it. I can only imagine the frustration one would experience in Spooky's shoes. I personally don't care what they are doing. But if I were in Spooky's shoes or anyone that was invested in those tournaments, I would absolutely care.

Was there a collision? I honestly don't know. Maybe they where, maybe they weren't. But it is Spooky's stream. He has the right to do what he wants with his stream.

My only concern was I don't have a problem with what he did, just how he did it. It seem a bit to aggressive. He could have handled that differently.

If you don't like it, then fucking log off of TYM, and don't bother logging back in. TYM fully supports Team Spooky, and always will.

He didn't say get the fuck out as in leave the venue. He was referring to getting off his stream. He even said "not on my stream".

If the FGC wants to grow, there needs to be more professionalism and better sportsmanship involved. Nobody in the higher ups are going to support a community that can't be like that. This kind of stuff shows exactly how far away the FGC is from being where LoL and other games are at now. Dedicating yourself and playing a game 8 hours a day, and traveling to every tournament you can possibly make it to, is not enough to help push this scene to where people want to take it. Tbh, the fact that there's a negative response against Spooky, and people are acting as though TOs and streamers are trying to take away any sort of freedom the players have, when that's not even remotely close to the case, shows not only how far away playing fighting games are from being a profitable experience to the point of having it as a career, but how much people actually care about that goal.

And that's a damn shame, because there are so many hobbies out there that rewards talent and dedication by way of turning said hobbies into career pursuits, and being good at a fighting game isn't.
