Injustice: Gods Among Us has a metagame that we've only seemed to have scratched the surface of. In the eyes of an inexperienced player, a majority of matches will seem like a keep away spamfest with annoying interactables. Though to the better among us, we see this as a very large scale of footsies with things that can change a match in an instant as evidenced by EVO, VxG, and more recently The Break.

Here's my question to all us serious players here on TYM, would you consider yourself a "High Skill to Low Mentality" player or a "Low Skill to High Mentality" player? The difference being....

High Skill to Low Mentality: You are a instinctual player capable of playing against good players and having good odds. You don't know very much about frame data, block strings, controller notation, ETC. but you have an innate ability to do well in a majority of your matches.

Low Skill to High Mentality: You take this game very seriously you read up on threads, know a plethora of information about the game. However, every match is an uphill climb against other players for some reason. You have to work twice as hard to apply your knowledge in a real match.

I'm going to have to say neither. I'm knowledgeable about the game but It's not an "uphill" battle for me at all. If a player doesn't know all the "info" in the game then they get slapped. If a player is "informed" then it's usually just a good match. Sounds like whoever votes the second option is a "choker". IMO of course.

I tried to make a third option saying you're both or in between but pushed a button by accident and created the thread.

Low skill to high mentality sounds exactly like me. I feel like I know more than 90% of the people I see online, yet I can barely beat 10% of them.

I hadn't ever really considered this before, but definitely Low Skill to High Mentality for me. Although my constant bouncing around characters trying to find the one I really want to focus on doesn't help ;).

Im a High Skill to Low Mentality
I dont have any problems playing against other people, usually i play Rushdown with characthers like deathstroke, Zod, Lobo and a little of Bane. Still i dont fully understand the Frame data, but every match i play against other players character im learning how deal with the moves of that character.

I can't hit confirm to save my life, I mostly throw the moves out hit or miss. But my record says I'm good with 2000 frauded online wins.

I know how to play my characters but knowing frame data, and hit confirming skills are terrible.

I understand a lot about the game, and tbh have become pretty damn good at it.

That being said, I picked the second option because I definitely feel like I dont use all of my knowledge in the heat of battle, but tbh I doubt anyone but the best of the best do.

I'm low skill-low mentality I try to read up and keep myself informed but I don't spend enough time in the lab to truly sit down and dissect this game and understand how everything works. I am low skill because I do not put in the time to garner experience from any matchups and actually learn from them. So i'm completely meh at this game.

Low to high for sure I usually know what I'm supposed to do in most given situations but come game time just.. Blank

I'm a low skill high mentality player. I know DS' frame data, frame traps and whatnot but I can never seem to apply that in a real match.

I'm probably an "intermediate skill to intermediate knowledge" player - Somewhere in between, really. And I suspect that I am not alone.

Low-ish skill, high-ish mental.
I take this game (and MK) as seriously as I possibly can without an offline nest, I theory fight in my mind for hours out of the day, I play everyone in bits and pieces so as to learn them better without simply relying on frames and theories, I've gotten a lot better at interpreting frame data in IGAU than I ever was at MK - or at least I've got a better feel for the what-beats-what dynamic - but I still get nervous to the point of screwing up whenever I play online because I know I'll never get the fully functional match I'd otherwise have if my opponent and I were side by side in front of a monitor, so I really don't have any true gauge of how "high level" I am...I just know that I'm a completely different beast offline than I am on.

Ditto for me!
