Why zoning is such a problem in injustice..

I want it to be as popular as marvel because then the tech and the scene becomes way better. A game that nobody cares about is a casual game and I don't like casual games. Don't want this to become a casual forgotten game at tournys.
are sfxt, guilty gear, melty blood, etc. casual games?

The problem is that most of the cast can do it and it usually doesn't require any real spacing or risk like it does in similarly paced games like Street Fighter due to the size of the stage, jack shit footsies, many projectiles knocking down on hit, and very fast recovery.

It's like they copied Marvelesque spam zoning and pasted it into a slower paced fighter, resulting in something incredibly lazy and frustrating. Though, I'd actually say zoning in Marvel incurs more risk than it does in this game, which is hilarious.

Oh, and incredibly slow walk speed. Forgot to mention that.

i LOVE the slow pace of the game when playing because the spacecontrol mind games are so strong you dont notice things like that at all. itd get really hectic and stupid if interactables are the same yet the walkspeed was fast. i can see why people dont like watching it sometimes though

still not an evo worthing game. Casual tournys doesn't matter. I'm not gonna play games like starfox assault just because a few people make tournaments. Injustice and mk are too different games. Compare marvel to sf they are way to different, tatsunoko evolved into marvel, it's the same engine after all same goes for sf4 and sfxtk or guilty gear blazblue persona. But this time it's way to different.

idk how you think mortal kombat didnt evolve into injustice because after playing this and looking back at that game/learning the basics..its very obviously made by the same people

yeah because this game is clearly an evolution of mortal kombat just like umvc3 and street fighter right? umvc3 is an evolved street fighter judging by your logic.

Came here looking for information on what people think of zoning; find two people having what amounts to a public IM chat replete with terrible grammar, unfinished thoughts, and a dearth capitalization.

I'm sure your work is of tremendous import considering it allows you time to argue about batarangs on the internet while not pushing the shift button on your keyboard.

... ANYHOW!

Meh, I sympathize with you but I'm not really in agreement. NRS tried to make a complete tournament ready fighting game. They looked at the FGC and said "I like what they're doing... Oh, I really like what they're doing... How can we make that fit our model?" And that's not a bad thing.
I think the gameplay is solid but I also think a lot of people pick up (fighting) games and have too high of expectations when it comes to their performance. I'll also admit fully, I have serious trouble with certain character's zoning (particularly Sinestro and Deathstroke). Still, I am getting better at recognizing what I need to do in order to win those games where I know my opponent is going to attempt to zone me out and play keep away.
All of my frustration in losing is never my opponent's fault. My picking up a controller and picking a character and beating someone or the CPU does not automatically make me invincible. Truth be told there is a HUGE learning curve in all fighting games because you aren't supposed to stop learning. I mean... there is a reason the tournament is called (Evo)lution. Your game is your responsibility. You are not responsible for anyone else's game (style). You get better when you go to the lab and work. You get better by playing better people or play other fighting games or put yourself in a community where you can get hands on knowledge from seasoned players.
Finding the local FGC here was the best thing to ever happen to my game. I think more as a player. I am more aware as a player. I adapt better as a player. But best of all, I can get instant feedback from people who are better than me. Seriously, getting beat up and bodied is not a bad thing. It is actually one of the best things that can happen to you if you have a good attitude about it. It should make you hungrier and more inquisitive.

So zoning in a 3-4 month old game and being ill prepared for it is something that you work through...

*I know I kinda strayed off from the initial topic but it was on my mind.

To all Filthy Casuals™, do this:

1.- Go to training mode.
2.- Select whatever character is giving you issues.
3.- Select the character you play as CPU.
4.- Press start, change the CPU to Very Hard.
5.- Try to outzone it, see what it does.
6.- Take notes.

Random thoughts about randoms:

1) This is a competitive fighting game forum, even if some people refuse to admit it. It thrives in people who want to see the game evolve, who study it and who engage in the community. If you think you're a casual, and you feel offended because people tell you to level up, GTFO from here. You'll be gone in a month anyways when you're bored with the game. We'll still be here when you're not, and we won't even notice that you're gone. So please stop with that "I'm a casual". To me that means "don't even remember my name pls, everything I post does not come from knowledge, or interest in learning the game. Just random internet farts".

2) If you're little Timmy, who's Injustice is first fighting game, you made an account on TYM and you suddenly call yourself part of the community, I have bad news for you. No. Sry. Earn it. Post shit, make franz, go to offline events, organize online tournies, join a clan, whatever the fuck. But don't say "oh this community sucks", since all you use this community for is to copy some dumb strats for your character and nothing else. People like that have 0 value to the community. Community Community. Just contribute mang, in any way you can.

3) Yes, zoning in Injustice is a pain in the butt. But to be fair, it's 10x more painful online. So bitch about online, everyone loves bitching about online. Online warriors are trash, it's ok to bitch about them. Identify if the issues you're having have a root in the fact that it's online, or if there's an actual deficiency in the game mechanics.

4) Please upload an avatar. It takes 3 seconds and it'll make you a little bit less random.

5) Stop saying "the community pushes us casuals away". It's so annoying. You guys weren't planning to stay either way :/ if you were, you wouldn't be writing that kind of crap.

6) MK9 is x10000 more complicated than Injustice, so lol at the people struggling with dumb stuff.

7) Play Aquaman.

but now is long gone and replaced by persona 4 arena, so who cares?
GG just had an update, just an FYI.

Plus, your logic can be applied to some of the most heavily played titles in history, such as ST, 3S, MvC2, etc. The fact that you are calling them casual games because they aren't at EVO is pretty fucking funny.

This is the major problem with everyone. Not at EVO? I don't give a shit.

Nobody aside a few care about those games anymore. So who cares? the only ones acceptable are street fighter because they have a scene in japan. Outside of that they are long gone.

Uhh...GG has a scene in Japan. Applying your logic here, GG is acceptable.

Please stop lol.

Btw, put these games at EVO, and watch how people still flock to play them lmao. You are pretty clueless.

- No, that makes no sense going on training mode will not help you get past zoners, come back when you know what you're talking about
I was all set to give you some friendly advice, until I read this post. You claim to be a casual, so you should know the depth of your knowledge. Which is fucking low. If you don't wish to learn from people with more experience, than you not worth the time to help out. Training mode, with a record option is a powerful tool to learn the game. You don't need to spend weeks using it, but you an hour a day in training mode will improve your game way more than facing online scrubs like yourself.

Won't show you. Admittedly, finding shit for Japan tournaments is pretty fucking hard.

But: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/content.php?549-Jul-12-14-2013-EVO-2013-Tournament-Resuts&s=f5950899e11ea92f95c360376d53aa73

They even had some of the top Japan players come out for GG. I mean, people wouldn't travel if they didn't care, right?
well, if you say so my bad. Anyway, I was talking about dead fighting games which are many many that have been forgotten. I don't want this game to become one of these and zoning here is making that aside of other fighting games were zoning isn't so.. you know what I mean. When I play I try to use every tool I can but this is one of the first games I know if I start zoning I'm gonna beat people way more easily and that makes it a little bit boring.

The thing is, though...people are finding it's not even the keepaway that's a problem. Supes complaints from most of the people who know better is generally f23. No dedicated keepaway character is even considered within the top 5.
