Strongest opponent Scorpion could beat?

sinestro doesn't need to make scorpion fear, he just needs to be capable of making someone fear him, and he's always capable, the gl rings have automatic personal forcefields, and sorry, the flash that grundy catched was jay garrick, the old man flash.
Sounds like if only Sinestro and Scorpion are around, than Scorpion does win :)

Scorpion isn't fearless. He fears for his family and clan, the lose of his honor, and all that jazz. His "fear" is partially what drives him and makes him stronger.

Scorpion is more complicated than just being a big ball of rage; though that is what he looks like at first glance.

I don't think it's fear of loss, it's more like mourn for the loss. And a true warrior does not fear the loss of honor. The samurai for example killed themselves when they felt they lost their honor. They did that not of fear, but of respect before the ones they felt they disappointed. Anyway, the only emotion that would kill Scropion, if it had a lantern-like ring effect, would be mourn. The rest of the emotions are non-influential on Scorpion. And MK9 storymode where he kills Sub-Zero shows that perfectly.

You are right in that in MK9 Scorpion did "mourn" for his family, but you have to remember too that he was also fighting for his lost honor since OG Sub "stole" his (and his clan's) honor when he killed him back in Mythologies. You make some good points over all, and you are entirely right about the samuria honor code...but that only applies to Scorpion as he was in life. At the moment of Scorpion's death he didn't fear the lose of his honor but he did fear the lost of his family. When he was resurrected though, he found that he, and his clan, HAD lost their honor regardless, and on top of that , he had lost his family as well. This is really of why I brought up EG Scorpion and Armageddon Scorpion in my other post. Scorpion's character had been through a little more development at that time in the story, vs just what was seen in MK9.

Bottom line is that Scorpion is kind of an honor bound character (even in death), and from the beginning he's been trying to recover his and his clan's lost honor to earn the right to be with his family again. After MK3/MK9, when Scorpion found out that Quan had been manipulating him from the beginning, Scorpion had become kind of mentally broken, and also became WAY more dangerous. And it happened again / even more so in MKA.

So what might he fear of after he's lost his family and honor so that Sinestro could capitalize on?

lanterns don't kill with emotion, they use their own emotions as a fuel for his weapons.
Wait, does Sinestro have to feel fear so he can fuel his weapon? I thought he was supposed to instill fear in other so his power feeds on their fear.

he has the ability to instill fear. it's a sinestro thing his victims are just more vulnerable if he scares them (i think). but to be a sinestro corps member a guy has to confront their deepest fears and embrace them. it's confusing.

Scorpion would never make it to sinestro corps. He'd never embrace his fear :)
