The option to turn Fatalities off

Not to be a bitch, but... no shit. I said, "if I am finding the time to play". If they're downstairs etc and then BUST in the door, etc. You're telling me you don't agree with potentially having this option?
I don't know what sympathy you're looking for, it's not like playing MK is some mandatory part of life, nor is it the only thing you have to do with your rec time. Sometimes having a kid means sacrificing shit, like super violent video games. MK will still be there when he goes to school or bed or grandmas house or a friends house or the moon. And if that happens, maybe you just need to pick yourself up a copy of street fighter until he / she / they move out.

IMHO, MK9 has enough bone breaking and chest stabbing and tit flopping and flesh burning to be inappopriate before fatalities even come into play even with the blood off. If lil' baby storms watches Goro stomp all over Kitana then break her skull and pound her tits into the floor I don't really see whats inapporpriate about wether he tears the arms off afterward.

MK2 was like one of my first games. I loved watching fatalities at the age of 4. =D

That said, the fatalities this generation are a bit much. I mean, even I kind of cringed when I saw that trailer. lol

I agree. @STORMS

A completely "Blood Free" mode would be great just so I could let me 8 year old play the game..

I already let him play MK9 ONLY when im in the room with him and I ONLY do BABALITIES on people in Ranked for Finishers.
If someone else tries to do a FATALITY to me online (why the hell do people still do them ONLINE knowing their is a 88% change or a RQ happening) I either have to press the HOME button right away so the splash screen covers MOST of whats happening on screen or worse shut the console off asap.....
For many adults, the only free-time they have is while the kids are around, so I don't find this "solution" fair.

I just how you seem to not see that YOU CANNOT ALWAYS ENSURE THE KID WILL NOT SEE THE GAME, as I iterated earlier. I understand sacrifice for your children, believe me I have sacrificed more than anyone can imagine for my children and I would do anything for them. Just because your a parent, doesn't mean you have to give up your hobbies and the things you enjoy. Sure you will have less time to enjoy them and you will have to choose the correct times to do these things. Like I said though I have put my kids to bed to find out they were sitting quietly behind me the whole time I was playing some kind of crazy violent game like MK9. You cannot hide everything eventually the kids will get into it and they will find it.

In response to that "Fuck You", I have to say "Fuck You" in return.

I see it the way I see celebrations after touchdowns in the NFL or any sport really:

If you didn't want Ochocinco/TO/Steve Smith(whoever!) celebrating? Don't let them score. If it means THAT much, guard them with your entire defense and let somebody else score who won't celebrate. You can quit the match if it bothers you so much. Or play with people in which you don't have to worry about rampant -alities happening. To the victor goes the spoils. That's how it works.
This is a terribly closed-minded response.

The best option was actually the Exploding Kombat mode because 1) it kept the blood/gore going and 2) you blew up on the last hit and it was actually faster to restart the match.

Online the game will always have it be defaulted to making them available unless both players make the decision before the match via a kombat code or something else.

There's no way to turn off people getting curb stomped in Gears of War and there's no way to make people who get shot to death in CoD turn into rainbows. They are violent games and that's part of what you signed up for when you bought it.

The request is simple and may already be something to be set in place. I have no idea why some of you are blowing this up other than to be dicks about it.

Regardless of how old you are, there will always be a time that is out of your control where family may end up seeing this when you don't want them to.

I was the same way as well, but you have to also understand now, back when we were kids Mortal Kombat didn't look anything like it does now.

IMO it all depends on the maturity level of the kid. As a parent you have to understand what your child can and can't handle. You must always ensure they understand reality from fiction and know the consequences of imitating what they see in movies/games/comics/TV. This how you have to gauge how young or how old your kid can be to see these things. My 6 year old is quite mature for his age and fully understands fiction and reality, but he is not capable yet of handling the graphic visual he will see watching/playing a Mortal Kombat game, as I said earlier Mileena scared the piss out of him for days!!!

Kitana Prime

Top-tier at everything but the characters I choose
You obviously do not have kids. K. Thanks. :)
This is a terribly closed-minded response.
You don't know ANYTHING about me in my personal life.
That aside, re-reading, you are simply asking for an "option". In my haste of reading through all this highly, lets say 'disapproving' of MKX nonsense, I overlooked this specific.
I am ok with this.

...and Luke, that would be correct. Opposing the option would be close-minded. Apologies, sirs.

I saw fatalities when I was extremely young, but theres a big difference between pixelated blood on a sega genesis and this stuff lol. I think this is a reasonable request seeing as how the gore is so detailed now.

What are you talking about? This is the worst dilemma ever. Maybe you just shouldn't be playing hyper violent games if your kid is such a ninja. My kid is a damned ninja too so the things I'm concerned about him seeing, I just don't fucking do unless I know the situation is totally secure. And if the situation is NEVER secure, then I'm sorry, maybe you need to play other video games.

Like I said, if the WORST THING you have to give up to be a good parent is MK, you are the biggest winner in the history of parental sacrifice. Jump on the cross and enjoy yourself.

My four year old step sister is pretty battle hardened. I told her we were all going to die and she just shrugged her shoulders. And she just watches sh*t like Game of Thrones like nothing...

So I wouldn't be turning it off but options are always good. Maybe make it so that the one that has it disabled just views a "Censored" screen when playing online so that people like @Kitana Prime kan still get their victories? Win - SemiWin situation?

Having the option to hide and MUTE the sounds on one screen would be amazing. While @Kitana Prime is performing a Fatal; if I have the option to censor fatalities then I would see and hear nothing.. but whether or not that is possible or feasible is another story. Regardless, the smallest option for this would be nice.

Well just an fyi from one parent to others, MK has has blood off modes in just about every home port ever released. It always disables fatalities and random blood spray. What it does not do however it trim any ultra violent moves that are not fatalities or anything insane that's going on in the background, so if you are concerned about your kid seeing bones break, people burn, stabbings, or other crazy shit (like being hit with televisions or punched off a building) you're shit out of luck. It also does not address the screaming and the yelling. I never let my kid even know MK9 existed though I do let him watch / play MKvDC cause he loves Batman.

A parent doesn't need to give up what they enjoy to be a fully good parent, unless of course we are talking drugs and alcohol and whatnot. I am very well and capable of raising my son and daughter and have done everything I can for them. There are many things I have given up for them and that includes hobbies. I no longer write and play music in bands anymore, I had to quit playing miniature wargames and damn near had to stop painting for them. I have yet one vice left MK and FGs. Sure you can say I shouldn't enjoy my free time that I rarely ever get, because I'm a parent and, if my son can be a lil sneaky at times. Well unfortunately thats just kids in general that will do those things. Its easy to sit there and say well then you need to give your favorite game, because you have kids, its not that simple either, because you are then also showing those children in your home that now they run the roost. A parent needs to enjoy life as much as the kids do and they also have to establish an authority figure in the house, by giving up everything you enjoy, well then you just told your child your the boss and not the other way around.

Is the sound really that bad? I was picturing the "Censored" screen appearing while the sound played in the background.

Similar to the end of this MK9 Trailer where you hear it but don't see any of it. Then again, the screams of agony might be bad for some people.

Overall this seems like more and more work than I thought.

Edited: The MK9 trailer is more accurate than the Joker fatality.

Similar to how Joker's Fatality was in MK vs DC where you still hear the shot but you don't see any of it. Then again, the screams of agony might be bad for some people.

Re-watch the trailer and close your eyes when the fatals happen, lol... it's almost just as bad.

@STORMS I think the fatalities look gross, so close to being Death Cargo status, @UltraDavid is correct, I am not fan of gore porn, novelty wares of.
Don't get me wrong... the fatalities are awesome to a point. As tech moves on and graphics enhance... we knew we would get to this point. However...

EndofGameBoss

That's about right.
Am I the only one that isn't phased by the fatalaties in the game so far? I thought they were meh and didn't make me cringe in the slightest.

I liked the fact it was comicy, this looks like gore or Evil Dead type shit, I'll pass. Everything else is stellar.
