Counting at least two-hundred entrants for Injustice: Gods Among Us, East Coast Throwdown 5 has quickly shaped up to be an iconic tournament this year. As expected, when May 18th dawned upon us, the competitors erupted into a bloody war extending through the whole weekend and culminating into a solid gathering of the top thirty-two fighters, who would cross paths again this morning to resume their widespread conflict until only the top eight remained.
Special mentions go out to Tom Brady for coming face-to-face with the door to the Loser's Bracket when faced by the onslaught of REO 's Nightwing in Winner's Finals, yet he did not lose his composure and managed to work up a miraculous comeback that brought him a 3-2 victory, blowing the minds of all of the awestruck witnesses!
We must also acknowledge AGE NY Chris G for recovering himself after Tom smacked him into Loser's Bracket early on in the Top 8. With his team of Green Arrow and Black Adam, he fought his way to Loser's Finals and confronted Gotham's savior in the form of OBS/EMP REO, only to be eliminated despite his best efforts.
Soon, all that remained was a Grand Finals between Tom Brady from the Winner's Bracket and REO from the Loser's Bracket, a series that would be remembered by us all. No doubt REO sought vengeance for his failure to prevent Tom Brady's soul-rending comeback...but instead of drawing upon his talents with Batman, he whips out Black Adam to compete against the almighty King of Atlantis.
Just when Tom was about to bring about a decisive conclusion in the first Grand Finals set, REO snatches victory from the jaws of defeat with a fortunate divekick AND an interactable set-up! With the brackets reset, the battle rages on, with unwavering resolve from both champions. But only one could be declared the king of all champions...
In the end, the waves of Aquaman's surging rage drowns out REO's efforts to retake control from Tom! And now, Test Your Might would like to extend its congratulations to the ECT 5 Injustice champion, OBS/EMP Tom Brady, for his amazing tournament performance and victory, closing out what can only be marked as a memorable chapter in the era of Injustice!
But if you think this tournament was epic now, just wait until the future slams us in our collective faces!
