Monitors, Do They Really matter?

I had a benq monitor for a while, it was really nice with mk9 because the 1ms response time made a huge difference because the xbox 360 had a slight more delay on tv because of the hz or whatever with the hdmi. I played on a monitor the first month of mkx till it broke, then i got a new tv, but i feel no (maybe a VERY little) difference. I think it is due to the fact that xbox one is designed for 1080p hd display, rather than the 360, also it probably depends on the tv response time, mine is 2ms. I can play on both equally well.

What do most locals or even majors use? I know BenQ sponsors alot of events, but has any one had any examples of their local using TVs and suffering for it? Assuming the Pros/Veterans would use a Monitor at home, or do they? -_-

Most players that take this seriously have an ASUS or BenQ so they'll be used to the speed of those monitors.

Maybe I'll have something to say ... Probably not

Gonna drop that there in case anyone needs it.

Anyway yes a monitor makes a huge difference, the last time I hooked up my system to a TV I just turned it off after 5 mins until I went back home. It is particularly important in games like Street Fighter where 3 frames can mean a reversal that can change the momentum of a match very quickly, this is why 360 became the console of choice for USF over ps3. Our games don't have moves that fast but none the less why wouldn't you want to play under the best conditions possible or try to deny something that many people have actually tested and found to be true.

But also if you're buying a monitor DO NOT go off of response time that's more of a stat for LoL and Starcraft players I think. What we are looking for is the lowest INPUT LAG, some monitors will have 2ms response time but have input lag of like 20ms.

At 60fps 1 frame is about 16ms so anything lower than that in input lag means you're seeing things come out on the same frame you pressed them, however you should still get something 12ms or lower.

This topic was on point ! :) Few days ago I decided to buy a monitor! So can anyone confirm that the BenQ RL2460HT is good ? I read that he was made specifically for fighting games.

Ive been in the market and the BenQ RL2460HT , are at the (EOL) End Of Line, they won't be making any more of these, they are just as good as any other BenQ but only made for Console gaming (max 60fps) and this particular model has an HDMI output that eliminates any input lag from Game Capture Devices, or 2nd Screens. Great buy if you can find one on special.

If not I can personally recommend the RL2755HM as a straight up 27" Console monitor. Only catch is that it doesn't have the HDMI Out capability.

Literally just had one of these come in today. So far so good, however I have been playing on a xl2420z, so its not like I'm not already used to the response time, I just needed a monitor dedicated to my console so I can have my PC up on my xl2420z at all times.

I play on an ASUS monitor at home, but when I go out to tournaments it always feels different. I have to play like a 20 minute set to get completely adjusted. Is there a way to check Input lag on monitors? I think my personal one might be a problem.

Monitors - How do they effect your play?

I would love to hear the TYM Community's opinion on this,

Personally I use a BenQ XL2420T for my PC and PS4,
But when I have friends over we used an LG 42" Plasma, this changed once everyone noticed the difference and started using their PC monitors for MKX, now I roll out my PC screen for fight nights.

Does the community as a whole notice/feel the difference, or is it all in our heads :p

What do you use at home?
What do they use at local tournaments VS larger ones?

Please feel free to comment :)
They absolutely matter.

If it has a game setting, be sure to have your gaming inputs set to it.

Otherwise, there is a sizeable delay.

They use an ASUS monitor as well. Mine is roughly 10" and so is the ones they use at tournaments. I don't know man it's always off lol

Haha quoted my own post

Rl2460HT
Its great. Like I said, I've been playing on an already great monitor for a while, so low input latency isn't something I'm new to. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to move away from a tv. Also, Its worth paying the extra money to get this over the Rl2455HM. The HM has no adjustable stand, and no hdmi output.

I've been lugging my PS4 to local casuals and I absolutely notice a difference. Generally hooking into flat screen TVs, if they don't have a dedicated game mode the input lag is undeniable.

MKX was destroying my Panasonic plasma, so I bought a "cheap" 55" Sony LCD with about 14ms in game mode. It's killer, makes a huge difference. And no image retention nightmares.

The answer to this is not subjective... it is simply YES!!!!

displaylag.com is the best site to see the difference.

it is as simple as this. when you push a button, how long does it take for you to see it happen on screen? most tvs add an incredible amount of "input lag"

the tournament standard has been asus 236h but has slowly shifted to the BenQ. I encourage you to take two systems and put them side by side on differrent monitors, hit a button and see for yourself
