After rewatching the stream I have come to the conclusion WOWOUT is going to be a MAJOR tool. He can essentially bait and wiff punish everything with WOWOUT~Teleport D1. Pressuring the Master of Souls variation is going to be a nightmare.

@THTB I take back what I said about armor... with invincible backdashes and a move that makes him INVINCIBLE that he can ALSO cancel out of, I dont forsee him having an issue lol.
It depends on startup time. If it's too long - no getaway from pressure. And backdash won't save when you are cornered.

Also remember, back dashing will require some of the stamina meter. You might not always have the reserve stamina to use a backdash.

@Shark Tank Ermac's teleport has different properties wether it's done on the ground or airbone. From the ground Ermac punches and it seems he's unable to d1 after (player on the stream failed it each time), EX-version does multiple pew-pew and launches high. From airbone he kicks and able to d1 after, EX-version adds only one hit after the hit and doesn't launch that high.

Also they said on a stream (around 24:25) that ex-version of tele-push will drain meter (you can see it at 44:04).
I could be wrong, but I thought they mentioned that grounded teleport DID allow a d+1 followup into lift, but they just kept dropping it on stream.

After watching this vid over a few times, Master of Souls variation seems like it's definitely the best. Just a simple trade with 3 soul fireball will allow you to full combo, the invisibility invincibility teleport mind games, IAP, etc 100x. Nothing is set in stone yet, but he hands down will be the first I try at this point.

The couple of characters I'm waiting to see better have a strong showing or Ermac just may steal their spot permanently!!!

Master of Souls: Seems he will always have 1 soul floating around him (assuming this is because it's part of the variation's visual identity). Doing the Soul Ball move always reduces Ermac to 1 soul regardless of whether he had 1, 2, or 3 souls when the move was done. Rather than it being a resource, the floating souls seem to just be a fancy timer to indicate when the stun ball is available.

I hope they improve the visual aspect of it or add another way of seeing whether or not Ermac is at 3 souls - trying to count souls in the heat of battle will be difficult at the best of times, let alone when the souls decide to float around behind him where you can't see them.

Man i really cant get used to that hlevitating stuff since i was sick of hawkgirl. But still it looks like mac has a cool set of moves this time. Now we can varry a little more.

That's true, but you'll have a backdash ready more than you'll have meter for armor. Plus I don't think NRS will ignore that part of MK9. Even though Injustice isn't like MK outside of some aspects, some things present in that game are making their way into MKX, generally for the better.

I don't actually play these games
I hope you're right and I missed that.
I think paulo mentioned that you could d1 link that.

I mean the guys playing were dropping mad combos, even some that were pretty straightforward.

EDIT Not being a hater, maybe Ermacs link are tight. Or maybe they were rusty, but I remember paulo said specifically grounded teleport links to d1, the guys were just missing.

Lmao at the title of the thread, funny shit. Im really digging that Mystic variation, hopefully when II do his combos I wont press back and square so during the combo it wont have him doing his fan like move with his fists , that really fucked me up and I get whiffs.

I feel that they should have made at least 1 of his variations SOUL based. They could have gone so may different directions with it, but they mainly chose TK. Since he is made up of thousands of souls, I imagined a variation where he can send souls at his opponents kinda like Noob Saibot sends his shadows. He could send a soul into his opponent and the soul can allow whoever is using Ermac to takeover their controls and move them into the corner or position them whereever you want them to be on the screen. Or the soul could make the opponent start attacking themselves then he can run up and do a lift into a combo. Or he can send a soul into someone and confuse them or scramble their buttons. Since he is like a sorcerer now, he should be able to control those souls and use them in kombat. Something similar to Quan Chi's trance but soul based. What you do you think?

I agree with you if Shang Tsung is not in the game. If he is I think a variation like that would be better suited for him.

That's true too but Shang never really had any soul based moves. He basically throws fireballs, turns into all of the characters and uses their powers against them. I know its too late, but it would have been cool if Ermac could use those souls to help him fight. Or it would be even cooler that since Shao Khan's soul is inside of Ermac, it would be cool if he could throw a Shao Khan shoulder at people. Like imagine if Ermac does the animation for a force push, but Shao Khan's soul comes out and it's green and he does the shoulder lol. That would be crazy, but it will never happen.

I know the guys are under pressure and all, but it would be nice to at least see a couple bread and butters. 99% of the combos are dropped.

I feel like Ermac's combos are going to be insane in this game.

I was under the impression he could continue to do them it just wouldnt bind the opponent uppon hit.

Basically what I see is he has an IA combo starter lol
Well, if they hit mid-air, he may be able to convert. Perhaps not as hard as Kabal, but still. I meant that if you hit grounded opponent, you'd need blinding projectile to combo...
Well, I need to watch and re-watch everything...

More like, it depends on how much of that startup is covered, if you mean TP here ofc.

I love the fact that he consumed the soul of Shao Kahn. Guess he is partialy controlled by the big bad one.
I don't recall any other of the thousands of souls able to control him. I might be wrong. For that matter how did his soul end up in Ermac anyway? When playing Arcade, one definite place I remember his soul going is in Cyber Subby Wubby (which I hope we see again)

Did anyone else notice that his enhanced version of the Instant Air Soul Blast (Masters of Souls) actually pops up the opponent so you can continue with a combo?
EDIT: @Shark Tank , should we add this in the OP?
Check out the vid at 21:18

Well if u listen to all of the pre match conversations he basically says that he is still under his influence, arcade mode has nothing to do with the story.

Huh..if that's convertible(looks like it should be), he's going to be nuts with meter.

You've got normal teleport, MB lift, full soul ball, and now MB soul blast. This means that with 2 bars he's got 4 potential combo extending special moves(which do seem to be necessary as his strings all seem to send people flying).
