Injustice + EVO + Community: My Thoughts (Very Long + Covers a lot)

Dude you play doomsday lol. Not knocking the character but he is really good online.
He didn't seem to function any differently offline. People still got hit with the same shit offline that they do online.

I think the only thing that makes him "really good online" is that Earth Shake is slightly harder to block. There might be more about the online environment that makes him better, but I could just be ignorant to what that is.

I seriously saw/felt no difference in how he played while at CEO compared to online. People weren't punishing anything differently than what I've seen online, people weren't blocking Earth Shake consistently, etc.

I am super proud of what I can do with only Catwoman. Like Pig, this year's EVO medal is the most meaningful accomplishment of my career.

But I also love what DJT does where he's not the best with any particular character, he's like a top 3 player with multiple characters and a strong understanding of Injustice fundamentals. I don't feel I am a better player than him. It's just different talents. I couldn't do what he does.
This this this this this.

While I prefer the style of character loyalist. I think guys like DJT and King and MIT and PPJ who use a "team" of characters well. Deserve an equal amount of props as the low tier heroes and the loyalists. Both require different degrees of dedication and work that the other doesn't. And having both types of players at tournaments makes tournaments more entertaining imo.

he doesn't play different on or offline. That's what I'm saying. You don't have to change how you play.

Great post. SonicFox sure has an impressive personality for his young age. :) I didn't really notice it but 16Bit is right, he's always positive about things win or lose.

But I don't get the "I'm not posting on TYM anymore because it's just filled with negativity". I honestly think this negativity of TYM is something some players create for themselves. For example from my perspective I've never felt any negativity on this board. Probably because I don't call anyone out, I don't assume what people's intentions are or what their opinion of myself might be based on their facial expression, handshake, popoff or tweets, and I don't make subtle diss to KDZ / Chef or whoever I don't like. I just play the game, read the board, find and share tech. And of course share my opinion and troll a bit from time to time.

When I think of TYM I think of a cool place where top NRS players are friendly and helpful to newcomers. I like TYM because it's everything I wanted SRK to be. The proximity with top players is unique in TYM and I think it's a very helpful thing to have for both the online and offline scene. It helps new players level up faster and it can inspire more players to become the next Pig of the Hut, REO, PL or Tom Brady lol. So I find it unfortunate that some want to leave this place.

I hope more players can learn from SonicFox and focus on the positive.

I'll try to be more clear. Doomsday plays a lot different from other characters. He's kind of like bane in the sense that they both pretty much ignore and don't play footsies. I'm not saying what those characters do won't work offline. What I'm saying is those characters play well online without any modification. I would also say they are actually better online. The transition to offline with characters like them is super easy because they don't rely on shit like footsies.

Zyphox

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
Zyphox....dude....

This is the way the world works. Whether you love it or hate it, it's how it works. It's a "what have you done for me lately" world.

Espn and all sorts of news and media have "weekly power rankings" in the NFL. Week 7 the Bears are the best. Week 8 the Bears have their bye (off week for non sports fans) and the Falcons win 45-3. Now the power rankings changed and everyone talks about the Falcons being the best even though the Bears didn't even play.

In baseball people pop off about some pitcher. But pitchers only pitch once every 5 days. So if on his off days some other guy throws a no hitter, people are going to be talking about that guy, even though the first guy just happened to be off.

This is how the competitive world works. It sucks you couldn't travel man. I understand how frustrating that is. But you have to understand that stock you built up fades quickly. The game develops, MUs develop, and if you aren't out there showing why you're tops all the time, then you get passed up.

That's just....how it is.

It's cool you want to be the best with your character. Even if that isn't everyone's motivation, we all want it to a certain extent. But from the outside looking in, your posts just come off as shameless "me me me look at me". Whether that's your intention or not, that's how they sound.
Yeah reading through my post in the context of the thread I can see how people see it as a cry for attention and I apologize for that.

I apologize about the WoWo thread. I was talking in a general sense and giving props to a great player that was being downplayed which imo shouldn't happen in a community. I never realized that this community takes posts like that to heart. I honestly agree that thinking you are the best can only make things worse. I guess I have alot to learn about this community. I apologize again and if you are on PSN i still want those games lol

Best 3rd Strike Player on TYM.
One thing that would help players out in the long run is not shutting other people out. Friendly rivalries are cool but alot of people need to work on social interactions and willingness to participate in things outside of the game. We all have a common goal to have fun and play our best but people shitting on each other won't look good anywhere.

Hopefully everyone is more friendly towards other non NRS communities with new and old players alike when MKX rolls around and I hope the community gets the proper respect and praise it really deserves. :D

On the topic of match up knowledge and general knowledge of the game.

Bad online play + spread out community = primitive knowledge of the game. People say they learn match ups online but you only learn a bootleg version of the match up. Also all the false match up info that gets posted up by scrubs that think they know based on online play.
Half people in Evo top 8 primarily train online

Online was huge for me

Overall great post @AK Pig Of The Hut you've clearly grown as a person. Glad to see you're out of your mental funk. One point I question is whether or not you are self referencing in this part of your post:

"What this injustice community needs is more dedicated players who main one character and flesh him/her out 100%. We don't need more players in the community, playing every character in the game, thinking they understand those characters inside and out telling people like 16 bit how good his or her character is."

I feel like both you and M2Dave jumped ship on Sinestro and Deathstroke well before the characters were fleshed out. But perhaps you're admitting this and looking to change that attitude moving forward. If so kudos, I think you are one of the best at character mastery when you dedicate yourself to taking the time to flesh a character out.

Also in regards to the wonder chef debacle here. I think you're just being difficult, you know as well as anyone the amount of sacrifice that's required to travel and attend tournaments, and it's more than just financial. I don't think you'd argue against that. It's pretty logical you stop showing up you stop being relevant, pretty much a universal truth in any sport or activity. That said it would seem to me Chef was just elaborating on this point to emphasize that his tweets were not in reference to Theo where your debate with him initially started. I think if his tweet read "I'm not talking about Theo" instead, there wouldn't have been such a long derailing of the discussion.
The only reason I left sinestro was I just didn't enjoy him, he wasn't for me. I have to truly love a character to main him and have fun

ZOD has been my favorite DC character or any character since age 4, so it was a no brainer to switch. Thx

Yeah I know a lot of people use online to help but it doesn't change the fact that online is bad. I bet everyone would be a lot better if the online was actually good. It's not out of the ordinary for people to practice online in fighting games but they all have better netcode .That just reinforces my argument that the online needs to be better.

This ia a great post @AK Pig Of The Hut I agree with everything you said. Us as a NorCal scene look at @Blind_Man @daddydab32ho and @The_SNKE and are greatful we have such talented players to learn from. This should be everyone's outlook. @EMPEROR_THEO should move to Sacramento and we would gladly except him and his Aquaman with open arms.
Year the fact u guys have a top flash, top raven, top 1-3 MMH/Grundy/superman already bodes really well for u guys

That's a strong group

I for one think it sucks Deg not going to play mix. His tech with zatanna and watching his Harley was awesome. So what he wanted to win? I wasn't upset with him just the stupid Trident rush move. I was annoyed with the broken move not the player. He wanted to win and did what he had to in order to do so.

I hope all the new blood plays mkx. They are all great players and fun to watch.

Goddamn, I'm sorry Zyphox but do you really need to make every thread into who the best flash is and trying to get props? Yeah you can be prideful or ambitious or whatever the hell you wanna call it but I can't think of anyone who has complained about not getting props more than you. I can remember 16 Bit blowing you up often almost a whole year ago for the same thing and yet here we are lol. Just let it go man
This^. He's always harping on about this best flash bullshit, not getting enough recognition, and makes threads like these(that have nothing to do with him) about himself ALL the time. No wonder he gets blown up for it. It's obnoxious. Just shut the fuck up.

Pig makes a well thought out, long post about his recent experiences and somehow it turns into "why isnt everyone telling me im the best!?!?!?" "give me props now!" "I need validation!"
