MK is so hard to get into, going on 2 years of solid metagame development you will get BODIED by people who know what they are doing. Absolutely, MK takes skill to play at this point.

Now who the fuck said that in the first month...I'd say it was more about learning KL and dive kicking and 23 low hat and Cyrax bomb trap and Kabal f23 infinite

Like for real, I can COMPLETELY understand people having preferences, that's not an issue at all, hell, in some cases it's understandable. But we're talking about a game that got OD patched to a game that has been out for a month with a lovetap of a patch. And I know no one is claiming they got 100% knowledge of the game at this point; if you do, knock it off.

My point is that you can have your opinion, but always remember that MK had mad issues when it came out, a lot of the same vitriol, and it took quite a while to get to where it is now. Every game deserves a chance.
Realest dude in this thread.

Not really arguing your points but just saying Reptiles uppercut works fine as an anti-air, ex soul steal works great as a wakeup with meter, and characters don't nessecarily need advancing normals with being able to dash up and attack or block.

I agree that Injustice could turn out to be just as good or better than in MK but the inability to dash block and dash attack have really made it seem easier to zone rather than work my way in.

You're actually supposed to just "walk" forward and once you spot the projectile just press down if it's not one of the few OH projectiles and then immediately dash.

There is no need for dash blocking to get by zoning.

Top 4 at UFGT had only one player notorious for MK. 2 are more known for Capcom. Just throwing that out there.

Ehh.... Chris g is known for everything. He plays everything lol. You can't really count him. Plus he was a tester. Same thing for Arturo, he had the game early as well. There aren't that many non-tester capcom players placing higher than MK players. Let's count the top 16 from the past five Injustice majors, count how many are MK players and how many are Capcom players. The amount of MK players is probably more than triple the amount of Capcom. I'm not hating on them, it's just they said they would pick up this game and own us in it, and they haven't yet

There is a difference between giving MK9 more chance, vs injustice more chance mind you from my standpoint.

Even at LAUNCH of MK9 and knowing about all the BS in it, I STILL had fun playing it and I knew right then I was gonna enjoy the mechanics in the long run. I like the high chip damage ect ect, the way dashin in D4's work, the way everything just works.

There are some things that "waiting" for it won't ever fix what you find wrong with it.

No matter how long I wait, they probably won't fix the problems I have with Injustice, and they aren't "LOL DIS IS BROKEN STUFF"

My problems, expand to the very engine of how things just work in general.

I feel like the game is too safe.

For every reason you have to do something, there needs to be a reason to also not do it. For almost every character in mk9 that was the case. Sure you could win on a few lucky reads, but if you guess wrong you got mopped up.

There are still sometimes where I dive kick with black Adam or string into chains with sinestro because I have trait out and in my head I'm like, "oh fuck, I'm going to get my shit pushed in now". Then a clam washes over me as I realize that I'm playing Injustice and not any other fighter on the market.

For me, this is the big reason why myself, and most of my local scene has been putting the game off for now.

I hope that either tech develops and the meta game changes, or the game goes all xtekken pulling out a game changing patch with unsafe moves and anti airs.

Like other people said, the only things about interactables that really need adjusted is damage overall and some very specific things. The respawning flying robots, the hitbox on that spaceship in Watchtower, and the interactables that hit twice if you try to armor them lol.

Otherwise the game is fine. It's pretty obviously a bit shallow and one dimensional for what it is, but it's still very fun and almost a perfect side game as far as FGs go. Personally I don't mind not every character having a strong reaction AA (Especially not a universal one), but I wish walk-speed was universally faster to add a bit to footsies and appease people complaining about zoning + non block cancellable dashes. The "Too scrub friendly" argument is one that I've heard for pretty much every FG that's come out in the past two years. P4U AAAAA combos or retarded characters, KoF13 retarded jump-ins and late match meta-game revolving around HD confirm into death combo, SF42012 vortex/OS-Fest/Cammy/unblockables, SC5 safe mid launcher/low mixup into big stupid combo or same mixup all day, MvC3 anythinginthefuckinggame. That's not exclusive to new games either, first order operation cheap shit always pops up when FGs are new because it's generally easy to do and find out about without any real effort. When MK9 first came out yeah I saw a lot of character variety. I also saw a lot of randoms losing to Kung Lao, Raiden and Johnny Cage.

Critical-Limit: FUCK YOU HOCKEY NET IS TOO SMALL GAME IS TOO TURTLE FRIENDLY jk

Edit: SwiftTomHanks I feel the complete opposite lol. Not saying literally everything should be 100% safe and non-commital, but this game is a really refreshing change of pace from SF4/SFxT "Unsafe on hit for no fucking reason" useless normals and in the latter's case, chains that are unsafe to encourage links and because current Capcom isn't competent enough to properly implement them without having something like pre-patch Cody c.LK cl.MP. Also there's a lot of "safe" things in this game that are actually punishable to some extent, i.e. GL b1 and its followups.

The reason people find it "boring" is because they can be "scrubbed out" .... and they can also do the same.

The more I play the more I realize that the interactables are creating most of the problem. Have you ever really played the game without them? You'd at least see non random footsie half the time. It would also help characters without projectiles or those that do not have a strong zoning game.

The hypest characters in this game are those that have to get in and create mixups. Grundy, Shazam, Flash, GL.... etc etc.

It is just funny to see how people deal with losing (even if its random).... and most of it is not good. No one can laugh off stupid shit anymore... :(

I honestly think that the reason some people like MK9 better is simply because they're bigger fans of MK.

yes~

this game is MUCH scrubbier because of the safeness of options that, in all realness, should be punishable. free pressure, free 50/50's for days, and then just backdash your troubles away and wait for the chance to mash out whatever braindead mixup your character has. the interactables should be blockable but i don't even really care about them (as a soul calibur main, stage awareness is nothing new) as much as i care about how helpless some match-ups feel because of the safeness of a character. i will pay money to watch a grundy beat a high level black adam or nightwing in tournament play.

all that being said, i am enjoying batgirl a lot, and even so, playing this game feels like a chore rather than a hobby. blergh.

Yes because Mk had none of this stuff. :joker:

I already explained earlier in this thread, MK9's 50/50's MOST of the time weren't full combo 50/50's with both options being pretty damn safe.

for instance Liu Kang had F3, and B3,1,2. F3 netted you at most 12% (can't remember) but gave you another round of pressure. Blocking either one of these generally got you out of pressure, but if you keep being scared of his low starter you will continue to take loads of chip and let him build meter + that 12% hit.

the only REAL 50/50 that's like the Injustice 50/50. Is Freddy's correct me if i'm wrong.

Atleast scorpion's 50/50 was a HUGE risk.

Most of the other 50/50's aren't "BOTH full combo-able" and usually ONE of your 50/50 options were unsafe on block. Also they were easier to fuzzy in MK9, making it where you would sometimes benefit to delay your attacks to mix up the timings, so they wouldn't block both options so easily.

Just my 2 cents.

Again~ cuz I feel like people keep misunderstanding me.

I think Injustice is a good game. But I think I can clearly and concisely explain why I like MK9's mechanics better.

I laughed off losing to stupid shit in week one, but I can only take so many robots to the face before it starts to get a little irritating

I don't really find Injustice boring at all, in fact I actually really enjoy it. It's actually rather disheartening that the main place that I come to for Injustice information has a thread on whether the game is boring and pretty much is trying to give it a death sentence 5 weeks into the games life. A few posts down from the main topic you see a top level player saying other top level players are waiting til after evo to say the game is ass.

If you look around on these forums you see people crying about buffs and nerfs in nearly every character discussion, you see people claiming things are overpowered and what things should be banned in tournaments as well. Now that's not enough, you have to try to reel in more people and get people to think that maybe this new game isn't so hot and that maybe it should just go the way of Soul Calibur 5 aka irrelevant.

Do you guys actually like fighting games? Do you want them to make more of them? Why do you guys poison yourself with these kinds of threads I mean come on it's 5 weeks into the games life. Give it time before you want to actively destroy it. If you like MK9, play MK9, and be done with it.

You can get scrubbed out in this game, but you could also get scrubbed out in MK9 in the first few months, just like in every fighter early on. The only thing I don't really like right now is how powerful interactables are. Aside from that, if the game got a universal walk speed buff and a universal anti-air buff, this game would be golden.

For me, it's too early to call the game boring or scrubby, but there's OBVIOUS problems right now. I'll give it a few more patches and until AT LEAST after EVO to make a better judgement call on the game as a whole.

Wasn't it just two weeks ago when REO made a post on how MK9 had such shit balance compared to Injustice and everybody was climbing on his dick for speaking the truth? Damn this community really knows how to circle-jerk.
Which is why I can hardly take this community seriously on anything.

I used to play a lot when the game first came out, but now I just find myself mashing buttons in training mode just to see how many times I can do the same combo over and over...

i swear i was hype to get injustice after 2 3 days i was bored of that game
now i play it 1 time per week maybe
i think i'll sell it later
