What's new

Noob.Com updated and reset with more clues!

I like DLC when it's well done. If it's JUST alternate skins, then it's not very well done. But NRS seems to actually care enough to put really hard work into their DLC.
That's where it becomes tricky.
If it's NOT JUST ONLY alternate skins, then they're maybe offering you the DLC to force you to buy it as it's the case for fighting games. What else could a fighting game offer you besides the characters?
In FPS games it would be like superior weapons or new additional missions, where you're like: "Aw damn, I actually can't miss that shit" and you're ... forced ... the buy it, since you want to have the best experience.

Cashcom is known for bad business practice like that. Look at them ... they created 12 additional characters for SFxT took them out of the game, without taking them from the disc and decided to sell them afterwards to earn more direct money.
Or how about Asura's Wrath, where you were able to buy the >>> REAL ENDING <<< one month after the release of the game? Is that DLC done right for you?

The only DLC done right in all of the games would be either DLC that has been created POST release of the game, when everything was done and they released more to keep you occupied, but unfortunately it's hard to judge stuff like that nowdays, since so many abuse that system.
The other good way to handle DLC would be - well, basically the stuff that NRS is doing right now ... few months pre release of the game the artists are pretty much done. The last few months go only into balancing the game, tweaking it, programming the last bits and the artists just sit around... that's the time for them to spend more time and come up with additional visual-content and offer that as DLC / pre-order exclusives, just the way NRS is doing it.
There are more than enough people out there who are WILLING to spend money to have unique looking characters, or have a look that they simply like and they're willing to spend money on that.
While others who don't bother about such stuff still get to experience the full game.

I've been picky about DLC in the past but, with Injustice, I haven't had this much hype for a game in a long time. I love some of Capcom's past games but I really hate the way they do business....I feel mistreated by them so I'm not supporting their efforts w/ SFxT and I'm inclined to be very skeptical of games they release in the future. On the other hand, NR has much better practices and seems to listen to the fans. I want NR to succeed in building a DC game franchise and I don't mind supporting them. As long as they keep treating us right I'll probably pick up every DLC character they release and most of the alt skins.

The only thing that matters is the quick fix system to tweak frames and shit without patching the game.

So we don't end up ruining the game like MK9, patching out legit shit that scrubs cried about, only to have completely blown through the patch budget by the time the shit that actually needs fixing comes to light.

After that the only thing that could happen that would turn me away from the game is if the netcode isn't on par with--or better than--Soulcalibur V. It's 2013, good netcode should be a given from the get-go. I'm paranoid about it because they've demonstrated fucking nothing regarding it AFAIK other than saying "yeah, we did something about that shit", which isn't going to get them anywhere with me.

I'd also like some sort of written guarantee that balance changes will be conducted on the input of competitive players and not just the angriest dipshits on Twitter. And won't start until the game's been out for at least six months.

Nah, I'm joking. Some nobody will post a tier list here on April 17th and that will be the end of all rational discussion on the matter.

April 17? I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Flash, Arrow, Cyborg, and Grundy haven't already been nerfed

Anything could happen
I hope we see more than just four characters and a few skins. Seriously, I want tons of shit for this game. I don't mind if I end up paying what I paid for my copy of the game on just DLC (and I'm getting the Collector's Edition).
When we got the DLC for the 4 characters and Skins in MK9, MvC3 was getting the shaft with having to buy a new game on top of just 2 characters added in as DLC.
I think of this picture.

Dinozords already has tier lists, son.
I clearly had too much faith, then.

I'd assume or at least hope that he's joking though.

I swear there was a goddamn scrub tier list for MK9 within the first week of release. The guy who posted it thought he was a genius of some kind and couldn't believe people thought he was stupid. Blew my mind.

I don't know why anyone is worried about anyone being too strong at this point. There is literally no information about anyone. Anyone seriously talking about how any character is too strong or weak right now is going straight to my ignore list.

I'm picking up this game because it looks hilarious and fun, plus all my gaming buddies have a fighter we actually agree on. NRS can throw the shiniest DLC deals in the world at me, the only thing that will determine if I ever buy another NRS game is the quality of the netcode and how they handle post-release balance. I'll be so viciously disappointed if we end up with another game that has a completely different metagame every three months and eventually phases out anything other than the most aggressive playstyles almost entirely because LOL crying.

This makes me glad that I traded in my MvC3 a few weeks after release. Got $40 for it (was a special thing going on at EB). Yeah, lost some money there but..better than being screwed over down the road.

Does this sound like he is joking?

He actually banned me from his channel for calling him an idiot for coming up with a video of a tier list for a game that isn't even out yet, even though for MK9 we had actual pro-gamers who messed the tier list up few months after the release of the game, because they didn't know it well enough :D

...How the hell do you make a tier list, or even attempt at a tier list with a roster that isn't even filled. You're watching demos of said characters that are meant to make them look amazing no matter what. I think by banning you, he did you a favor.

Not only that but he has a video about how he thinks Cyborg is overpowered because of one EX move (and he states in the description "so do you guys agree? With moves like these it's hard not to!"), aaaand he thinks that after playing fighting games for one year he's ready to start playing them competitively.

He's an annoying kid; I can get over that.
But what really bugs me is that some people on TYM actually support him.

Making free advertising for the game or not, it doesn't change the fact that he talks a lot of crap and that should not be supported by a site like this.
Additionally to that you have JaeRoar and him and maybe others, who lurk around on this site and basically steal thoughts from other people who come up with new hints, clues, ideas and so on. They make videos about it and never mention where the original source came from. That's bold.

im more than postive raven in the game. Shes in that teaser iamge fighting Lex. Why killer frost? if thats her. Flash clearly needs a main villain counterpart. So does Aquaman. Black Manta DLC!?

This is the most ironic shit I've read in months.

Damnit. I wish pre-release tier list discussions and theories about who is OP would stop. I really hope NR takes a good few months to let people familiarize themselves w/ the game b/f attempting to make balance changes. The only thing they should be changing in the beginning is unintended bugs/glitches and easy infinite combos.

As for his statements about being ready to play competitively I have no problems: I would like to see the competitive community grow so I'm not going to discourage anyone from trying out the tournament scene. I have no idea how much he's practiced in the year... maybe he is good. At least w/ Injustice he'll be getting in at April 16 like most everyone else.

i dont see cyborg being to OP .. I dont think his single shots will do that much dmg .. Also unlike MVC3 IM SO GLAD there not infinite combos .. ... hated that stuff. Cyborg looks like a kiter.

I'm certain that I'm misconstruing what you're saying here, but I'm gonna go ahead and speak my piece anyway.

I think how long one has been playing fighting games is irrelevant to this matter. If you feel like you can put yourself out there and join in a tournament, go for it. Always. If you wanna succeed in a game, that's how you're gonna get better. I'd never discourage someone interested in tournament play from getting involved in the community just 'cause they aren't skilled or experienced yet. Ain't nobodoy benefiting from that kind of behaviour.

I'm just saying this because I've seen him play MK, SFxT and SC5 and it looks like he has no idea what he's doing in any of those games, so it's pretty hilarious that he thinks he can start going to tourneys now. If he wants to try and keep going then good on him, but I don't see how he can think he can play like that and not get bodied.
