PL says "KL NOT IN TOP TEN"

yes thats true but cage is so safe where as kung lao has to take alot of risks to be effective.
Not really. Just mash out jabs against most characters. Throw in some hats, safe overheads, and difficult to react to teleport and you've got a tasty bullshit cocktail.

When people say he's risky, they mean Spin. He does not need to throw out naked spins. Ever.
i strongly disagree with that i think you do have to check them ocassionly with a spin. if i know kl will never throw out a spin im just going to d4/d1 after every blockstring, tele3, or f3

Then you get crossed over, counterpoked, teleported, whiff punished, and whatever else he wants to do.

If Pl didnt play this game people probably wouldnt even list kung lao as top8 or barely top 8. kung lao is 4-6 he ties with cage and sonya
That's from your imagination ? Even when PL dropped mk, ppl though KL was top 1 (before kabal rises by Warda/REO). This char is the biggest threat a newb can be with so far.

How many KL in top 8 since the game as been released ? comon.. PL has nothing to do with KL tier list. People can see by themself. And I think, PL didn't pick kabal as a second main just by coincidence. ;)

the thing is that if you never do then people have no reason to respect the spin. if they (lets assume cage for this thought experiment) read that you're always going to try to poke out of pressure with d3 they can crouch block and full combo punish d3 for like 27% (sonya gets like 47 if she reads a low poke). if you try to get out with 21, 1) f3 wins unless you input perfectly with blockstun, release block perfectly and input in 1 frame, and are player 1, 2) nutpunch.I'm not saying one should use the spin a lot, but you have to make them respect it. that being said, i agree not top 5, probably top 10, definitely top 15

Using a 7 frame move to escape is not that hard. I was doing it quite well with Baraka's spin against MikeMetroid recently.
Also, he has a 7 frame uppercut as well. And then if he reads they'll block a poke, he's free anyway or he can go for a throw.
Deterence just in itself is a powerful tool.

Except he can counter poke with a... poke. Like every other character. then you're in pressure and bullshit all over.
the only thing that lao gets from a d3 is a spin because all his strings hit high except for b33 which isnt safe and b1 which is to slow

K. You go ahead and escape every possible follow up he has all the time and I'll say you're right.
You jump, you get jabbed/DK'd.
You poke back, you get poked again/crossed over
You stay there, you get fucked.

Playing risky doesnt not only mean spin... it also means teleports 3s. cross ups, jump ins, pokes, counter pokes etc. Kl standing 1 and 2 wiffs vs Low hitbox chars, so all he has is d4s, and d3s are -on block.

Sonnyas d4 has a better reach than KLs.

When was the last time you saw KL get AA'd from all his various approaches, much less with any consistency?
Also, standing 2 CAN hit low hitbox characters crouch blocking. Just take a half-step back. Boom. There ya go.

Why are you even arguing if you're not paying attention? Half of this issue stems from Dizzy punishing every tele~3 of PL's.

Edit: not to mention taking a step back will get you blown the fuck up by characters with fast advancing moves like Kitana and Mileena

Sorry, I didn't realize Kitana's advancing move wasn't like 18 frames.
Also, I said half step but it's prolly even less. It's like a slight twitch on the control or blocked D3 distance. It's extremely minimal.
And finally, Dizzy punished it because he's just fucking good and actually adapted to PL's burning need to constantly teleport.
Quite honestly, he's a fair bit above everyone else in that department.
