He is a random bullshit character. KL's pokes are terrible. He has to rely on randomness to get in on his opponent and put together his strings. That's why most top level KL players rely on teleports and dive kicks to throw off their opponent.

This is very true, but half of this randomness is actually not random and there is a setup in it, which people dont know.

Okay Ive played kung lao and only lao for a year and a half and these are his bad matchups:

Johnny cage: punishes teleport the best in the game, takes away kunglao's ability to gain a lot of meter which is one of laos biggest strenghts,
wins up close against kung lao,

I dont care what anybody says about 21 interrupting f3 into f3. because cage can mix it up with standing 1's which is 8 frames and because of block stun the 1 frame difference cant be made use of consistently, outpokes lao. he has ex nutpunch invincibility and armor and invincibilty will win no matter how fast your jab or strings are. lao cant zone him.

Cage only loses 4 matchups imo and those are kabal, kenshi, freddy and subzero. He is top 5 imo

Sektor: outfootsies lao, lao cant build meter
Cyrax: outfootsies lao and outdamages lao, lao cant build meter

Kitana might be bad

Dont think sonya is that bad, she has the advantage but it is so little its like 5.5.

lol, against kenshi it is braindead for 80% of the times that is true, but Im talking about teleport delay 3. brady plays the matchup like its supposed to because anything kenshi does it makes him stand still in one position and his moves cant be safe on whiff if somebody has a move that gets you instantly form point a to b, its simple as that.

He can just do 24 (only minus 1 on block) and block the nut punch. Seriously 24 is such an underutilized string.

I honestly don't know if I'd call Sub Zero a losing matchup for Cage anymore, maybe 4.5/5.5 sub but it's not horrible.

kl doesnt struggle with low hitbox characters just because they have low hitboxes .....he just blows up most large hitbox characters in general

Ok Kung lao is top 10. I don't know if it is the upper half or the lower half, but he is top 10. What is happening to pl is that he cannot play that random insane game against characters like cage........ It has to be more spacing oriented until he can get the momentum, then and only then can he go ape shit. Kung lao just doesnt automatically control the match against some of those characters. His issues with mileena or ermac? I have no idea.
