EDIT: It is also very hard to get views without big names. The average streamer that is left gets 15-25 viewers, its the struggle lol. Online tournaments by brows dink and empress etc have been successful. Logging into tym you see usually 3 KI streams with hundreds each and an inj or mk stream with 15 maybe 40 if its a random mk one noone knows about. I just remember one time I told the owner of my venue "hey watch this" we put in mk and changed the stream and it jumped like 8 viewers in a min and they were very active and enjoying it right away, character requests and just talking about the game, which is still very hard to find with injustice viewers and players imo.
This is kind of what I was talking about with regard to streams in the TFC results thread. One thing that is missing from our community is recognizable personalities. We have plenty of personalities, but almost all of them are inward-focused; aside from say, CD Jr. and to an extent Tom, no one knows who the majority of the rest of the guys are. They may have heard the names once or twice, but they probably couldn't tell you anything about them.

In comparison, I don't play any of the games NerdJosh actively plays and yet I know who he is. Even for someone like Tru3Talent, he's done enough to generate a small regular following even though he's not really a member of the FGC. Likewise with other popular streamers and personalities from various games. You don't necessarily have to play Street Fighter to like watching Aquasilk stream.

As we move forward, maybe more people in the NRS circle will move to have a regular streaming presence and promote themselves more as personalities outside of our nuclear community. It'd be cool.

true story: me and DJT were considering entering evo for ssf4 in 2010 and that is when we were going hard at sf4, who knows, maybe we would've done pretty well nd put ourselves on the map before mk9 came around. Me and DJT have caught a lil attention from Ultradavid and James Chen (I believe I heard someone say they talked a little about us on their show). But yeah i agree, I think we need personalities that people know outside our direct community.
