Sooo I'm patiently waiting for my Hitbox to arrive and I'm just curious about the best way to approach it when it comes. What's the first thing I should be doing? From what I understand, moving and getting used to the down/up(jump) button is what's difficult. I always just said to myself that I'd go to practice mode and practice my BnB's/setup's etc untill I was competent then go online and play people my skill level and just start again from scratch as if I was new. How long do you think (roughly) it will be until I'll be back to my normal skill level on pad? Just a quick question, thanks!

Stick to a game you know would be another piece of advice I would give. I jumped into getting used to my Hitbox and SF at the same time and it wasn't great, wish I had stuck to Injustice only just because I was familiar.

Once there's something I really want, I usually go pretty hard at it knowing it will be difficult. This is one of those feelings, I won't be giving up.

SLOW DOWN, your inputs are going to be a lot faster you will need to slow down your inputs in some cases. Once you're done with that, take that baby online and enjoy flawless execution in 2D fighters.

I'll most likely be playing only Injustice and MK9 untill MKX comes out but it's a shame, I wanted to get into Tekken and SSF4 ae. Should I not play them for a little while?

When the fuck are Hitboxes going to be available for the new console generation? I want one but I've got MKX in mind more than Injustice.

Go into training mode and practice common motions for specials and then common cancels into specials from normals and strings. ( Your goal is to be able to do d1 into special and go from d1 into block without getting a special to come out)

Learn how to piano effectively so as to avoid dropped inputs due to pressing opposite directions at the same time.

Mix in movement with buffered special motions (Try walking forward and buffering a forward quarter circle, where you do it fast enough that if you press a button the special will come out, but not so fast, that if you don't press the button, you get a dash by mistake)

This is going to sound nuts, but for movement play an old school space shooter, or platformer instead of a fighter first. It will get you into thinking of the up button as a jump button and help you focus on moving and dodging.

You'll hate it for the first 2 weeks or so. I wanted to smash mine lol but it's totally normal, just stick with it!

I liked putting a bumpy sticker on the R1 and 3 button as kind of a guide. Visual for button checks and a feel thing for your fingers so you don't ever have to look down while playing.

But I quickly came to the realization that it was better to play Injustice/NRS games with it because you don't need to look up any guides/tutorial on how to do certain moves or anything. You can just sit back and play and eventually you'll get more comfortable, it's child's play really.

With SF4 on the other hand you have to learn Hitbox only techniques to preform certain moves, so in that case you'll have to look up a lot of stuff, via their homepage for instance, and then practice them over and over!

So to me NRS games are ideal for beginners to get comfortable with their Hitbox, learning while having fun without the frustration of not being able to do basic moves is a pretty sweet deal.

Good question, perhaps you should email the people at Hitbox. I've been emailing Shaun and he's very nice and answers in great detail. I plan on getting another Hitbox for MKX on the next-gen consoles anyway unless I just go full-blown PC player but then I miss out on playing folk I know.

I've been reading about the Hitbox techniques for SF4 recently and I get how it's done and it doesn't seem difficult to perform the moves. Just seems kind of logical to me. Good thing I'm primarily an NRS player. Also "child's play", MMH, my picture... Well played my friend, intentional or not

I dropped $150 on an arcade stick for SF4 and I used it like maybe 8 times and gave up on SF4 (and all of its iterations) entirely. So now, I have this thing sitting here that I don't even use. I'd really hate for the same thing to happen if I were to buy a Hitbox.

Ahh interesting idea, it's the same as the 'J' and 'F' key on a standard PC keyboard. Might do that!

Hold off buying one unless you are getting MKX on the bone. PS4 has this check thing that the system does every 8 mins and it shuts the controller down. Akishop is working on a fix for their ps360 boards but as of yet, there isn't one.

My advice for getting used to the movement is don't play games at all at first. Go into a menu and just move around. Basically, just use your left hand doing things with absolutely 0 stress/frustration factor. Once you're comfortable, then play games. I have a backwards compatible ps3 and was playing Road Rash to get used to the HitBox. If you have that ability, I HIGHLY recommend playing driving games to really work on the subtleties of controlling the HitBox (or a stick for that matter). It just has to be an old school game so that it doesn't rely on the analog stick.

Why don't you return or sell it then since you don't use it? I'm getting a hitbox now because I can use my knowledge of MK9/INJ to use as a reference of my progress with the Hitbox so I'm in good shape for when MKX comes out. When MKX is release I should be using a Hitbox perfectly and so my execution for MKX should be on point.

Basically - I'm using the remaining injustice time to get used to the Hitbox so I can be ready for MKX.
