[IMPORTANT] Injustice at UFGT:X Will Have a 128-Entrant Cap: All Pools on Saturday

With a great deal of anticipation heading into the 10th edition of Chicago's UFGT, one of the biggest questions a lot of participants had was which pool they'd be assigned to. With the announcement last week that some pools would be opened up on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday-only as originally planned, members of the travelling community have been in a bit of a rush to adjust their plans in case they were slated for an earlier start.

However, today, tournament director Adam "Keits" Heart has released word, to the probable relief of some, that Injustice pools will be held on Saturday and Saturday only. In order to make that happen, Injustice registration will be hard-capped at 128 entrants.

The official statement from the UFGT staff is as follows:

"Due to the vocal distress amongst the Injustice community, and a slow down in late registrations (possibly related), the UFGT team has restructured equipment and tournament needs to allow for a Saturday + Sunday only Injustice tournament. However, due to this change the Injustice tournament will be hard capped at 128 players. We apologize in advance to whomever is the unlucky 129th registrant. We hope this elates the moods of players already registered.

Have fun everyone, UFGT cares about fun."

- UFGT Team.

As Injustice is already approaching the cap with only pre-registrants (as of the end of late registration), this means that it will be critical for late-registering attendees to arrive at the venue and secure their entry into the tournament as soon as possible.

Woooooooooooo! Even though I was initially pissed, I wasn't THAT mad since I have the ability to take the whole day off on that Friday. Anyways, glad it's back to Saturday. Awesome.

Note that this means there are not that many spots left -- so if you can, please help spread the word on Twitter or wherever else.

Whats the reason MLG still only has 50 pre regs and this has 90? MLG has like a 6k pot right? WTF???
I figure that if Cali/Nevada/etc. brought about 100 people to SCR with few long-distance travelers, then with the number of out-of-state people that have already signed up for MLG, it should be riding high. So I'm not quite sure what's going on with Anaheim.. Seems like the bigger local contingent is missing, or waiting till the last minute.

But also, some of those players could have been crossover from other games as well.

honestly, cali should be providing like at least 50 entrants, so yeah dnt know what the issue is. Could be money tho, that is always a reason usually.

Bumbling towards greatness.
MLG is known for holding high quality events and treated MK amazing. Ive been to many MLG events and i have come out of all of them with a sweet honey BBQ taste in my mouth
I wasn't taking a shot at MLG. I work with MLG regularly and both enjoy and respect the tournaments they put together. However, MLG has never had home-run attendance with fighting games - regardless of the pot sizes (which have shrunk over time).

Recognizing that is not saying anything bad about MLG, its just commenting on a strange truth of the FGC.

that was MK9. the biggest injustice tournament to date, aside from EVO, was on the east coast.

Right now you guys are struggling to get your majors classified beyond a regional because turn outs are low. I don't really know where 200+ is coming from.

What does that mean? Other regions don't travel enough or the East Coast doesn't represent themeselves enough?

It could mean a lot of things but my take at the time was a lot of the EC regulars didn't make the drive. They're probably multiple game guys who enter NRS games because they're there. Also a bunch of the EC guys are kids and don't travel at all.

200+ was a hyperbole. 70+ entrants is now considered regional?

No, but it's not as good as the rest of the country. There's just no evidence supporting the idea that an EC MLG would do better.

see you at the top.

NEC had 127 entrants.
MK9, the small competitive scene that is was, supported MLG Raleigh more appropriately than the significantly larger Injustice scene is supporting MLG Anaheim.

Goddamnit. I took off work on Friday to make sure I got people from out scene to pool on Friday and enough people bitched about it to get Injustice moved to Saturday? Now I have to find out what to do on Friday now.

True but NEC was 6 months ago. WB and ECT did not have those kinds of numbers.

Maybe there's an over saturation and numbers will be up for TFC? Time will tell.

It's just amazing to me people were like begging for mlg to pick up injustice. They do and get super low numbers... WTf do you guys not realize if you max out the cap they will probably have it at more mlg's in the future with possibly bigger pots???
When I ask people why I should go to MLG and all I hear is PRIZE POT PRIZE POT PRIZE POT it's not exactly screaming fun experience.

Speaking of whats the deal with side tournaments and BYOC a MLG events? They cool and allowed to run there?

I know I got this problem :(
