Guys I do see where Carl is coming from. I personally can go back and watch Tom Brady vs Tony-T a hundred times as a Sub-Zero main who grew up loving MK. Its fascinating for me just watching matches like that in MK9 because I love the engine aside from the unforeseen glitches it has. I don't feel the same about Injustice but its all a matter of opinion. There is nothing wrong with IGAU in the slightest, I simply dont enjoy how the game plays as much. I don't like how big the stages are and don't care for the walk speed for instance, but some people do.

Also

I play VF so I know all about a game LOOKING boring to some people and thats just the way its always gonna be for stream viewers who might not actually know the game intimately. Sadly there is little that can be done about that.

I wonder if 10 years from now there's been a couple of injustices and some new fighting game will come out and people will say they don't like it because they've just always like injustice ever since it first came out

I disagree. MK could be fast-paced because of dash blocking. You could play much more an active, exciting footsies game because you had movement options to get in and out of range. In Injustice, the walkspeeds are so slow that your movement is relegated to dashing. Most characters do not recover super quickly after a dash, so you're always taking a risk if both players are in what could other be a "footsies" situation. Dash forward against Lantern? Enjoy eating a lift for a huge combo. Superman will f+2,3. Etc. So instead the entire pace of the game just gets dragged down.

THIS. Earlier I posted that the tactics in this game felt "linear and transparent" and this is what I meant. It feels confining as heck sometimes. Hell, compare standard Superman or Black Adam play to the kind of crazy setups Poongko used in the famous match against Daigo at Evo. He's afforded so much creativity.

You're giving an example of a character with one of the deepest and most diverse movesets to ever touch a Street fighter, because he's essentially a character amalgam.

Now go watch this:

And the game, while deep in thought, boils down to Divekick or Sweep on one side, vs cr. mk (+ various normals when close) / fireball / shoryu on the other side.

People see what they want to see.

Well before the game came out we hoped Injustice would be like Marvel is to Street Fighter. Instead we got what Blazblue is to Guilty Gear. A game that has killed its predecessor and left many players of the old game unsatisfied.

I mean that sounded intelligent, until you realize that most SF player hate marvel, ignore it and just continue playing their game.
MK players can choose to do that, but they were a dwindling community to begin with.

I agree with this so much. I can't say injustice is a bad game at all and I'll admit it is more put together than mk9, but mk9 was just much more fun for some reason. HGTV Soapboxfan this is me
You hated mk the same way at first (i mean when we ask started taking it seriously, not when we were scrubs). It wasn't until you got good that you enjoyed the game. You're just being lazy, plus you need a character that fits you. Stop picking rushdown and you will enjoy more

I slightly prefer MK9 to Injustice solely because the former has a 'one attack button per limb' system, which I prefer to the 'three attack buttons + trait button' system.

Largely this is because I've been a diehard Tekken fan for 11-12 years now, and so it's what I'm used to. In MK and Tekken, it's extremely easy to use all four attack buttons equally and not have it affect your playstyle too much, while in Injustice most characters have certain attacks buttons they neglect/use 75% of the time.

IDK, not being able to use all four buttons equally gets to me sometimes.

Other than that, I think Injustice is a great game and I intend to get at least a few more months worth of fun out of it before moving onto something else.

Turn off interacables and transitions to make it all about the player and character. Anyone consider that? Try it for a day and you'll see more to your character and more to your MU.
God yes. Im amazed so many people here think interactables are a good thing. They fucking murder this game. Whats the point in teleporting or doing anything when they freaking track you?

That video is your representation of non-linear and non-transparent gameplay?

How ironic, because Seth is essentially a 50/50 mix up character. He has the dragon punch with the most invincibility frames and a command throw that cannot be escaped. Fighting Seth has been described as "rock, paper, scissors" by numerous high level Street Fighter players and Daigo himself basically claimed that fighting Seth in a best out of three games can be "random".

Yes, it's boring as fuck and footsies seem nonexistent.

I'm really really let down by Injustice. I still just play MK.

JokersWild515

I'm a man of my word.
I think the reason the game is boring from most people is that they play top-tier characters and earning wins for them isn't as hard as anyone playing Lobo, Lex, Joker, etc.
As a Joker main from day 1 I've got to work my ass off to get in and stay in. And if I win against a Supes or BA, it's a great feeling. Landing set ups gets me hype because Joker's set ups are hard to land. Anyone looking to have more fun in this game should go low-tier. I honestly think a low-tier only tournament would be so much fun to watch in this game.

AK Pig Of The Hut Smite is also one you might like. It has a Dota-style mode (3 lanes, towers, etc) but also has a bunch of others including 5v5 arena. You have your pick of match types that last 15-30+ minutes.
Okay, not on topic, but please do not support Hi-Rez Entertainment. They shove a game out the door as quickly as possible, support it minimally for a really short time and then leave it hanging without any changes, no matter how badly it needs them. Global Agenda and Tribes Ascend both have minimal content and serious gameplay issues, and Hi-Rez basically just lets the servers run quietly and figures they'll keep making some small amount of money by virtue of people buying dumb F2P shit. They're a really horrible company.

What makes it boring to me is the lack of good normals. At least with MK we had D3 and D4 giving certain amounts of advantage, allow us to come in with string staggers, and spacing out opponents, avoiding jump in`s with lowering your hitbox with D3, or AAìng with a jab. I feel like injustice doesn`t really have anything like that in it`s own way.

I love the fact that this community can never be satisfied. You feed into every buff/nerf thread and cry about the most asinine shit. NRS absolutely can't win because they can't please everyone. The hardcore/tournament players can't win because the game is being patched so frequently because the casual/crybaby people in the community demand "walk speed buffs. superman nerfs. DD should have a better low. Catwoman should meow more." The same people who ask for nerfs and shit are the same people who will message u online saying you are a pussy spammer and don't "fight." We all got into fighting games because of the competition. If one stupid ass thing fucks you up constantly, dont cry about it to the developers, lab it out and get a strategy for it. When that strategy begins to work and you body the cats doing the same shit, the game is fun.
If that doesn't work, go play something else, quit bogging down the community with tears. It gets us nowhere.

this is what I and others hoped wouldn't happen....... smh. All I (and some others) wanted was for us to just play mk9 and injustice, have fun, create hype, and keep doing that until mk10 came out. Instead, we have ppl on the mk side and the injustice side and we are pretty much having a civil war lol. I have as much fun doing d4 to ms to f+1 in mk9 as I do doing jump 3s with deathstroke, doesn't really matter because both games (in fact all fighting games to be really honest) have stuff that is very good and can be used multiple times in a fight, big deal, it isn't like it has changed and it won't be changing anyways. So I say, why don't we all just have fun with injustice and make sure every tournament is hype and memorable then we can go to mk10 and do the same thing. I've seen way too many threads about (oh injustice is better) or (mk9 is definitely the better game). This argument over which game is more fun/better is pointless and it'll never end and we are wasting so much damn time arguing when we should be finding new tech for injustice characters and making sure we can see more characters at tournaments. I've said this before, I see why my bro doesn't go to TYM that much, the hostility here is like a plague and it is very easy to contract. So to end this off, STOP ARGUING AND LET'S GIVE THIS GAME (and even mk9 if we can) SOME YEARS AND HAVE A BUNCH OF HYPE TOURNAMENTS AND ETC. AND LET IT GO OUT WITH A BANG UNTIL MK10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
