Breakthrough - Goro X-ray bug?

So, I am messing around in practice and I am trying to do some overhead (3d3) into close ex dragon fire shenanigans but 9 times out of 10 my x-ray comes out.

I can clearly see from my inputs that L2 has not been pushed so what's the deal??

I have switched controllers and even gone so far as to hold the left side of the control with 2 fingers to ensure I am not accidentally hitting the stupid button.

What am I missing?

It's a hot key thing, pressing 1+3 gives you l2.
Or something like that..

It's annoying. I get unwanted interactables.

Remember that X-Ray can also be triggered by pressing X+O+R2. By doing X d + X xx db+O+R2 too quickly the game is buffering all three button presses together thus doing the X-Ray.
