Why does the game lag?

I'm sure everyone on PS4 has run into this situation at least once during their time playing Injustice 2. Start of every match, a slight lag spike happens for no discernible reason. I have had this happen on both PS4 and PS4 Pro, during regular VS and tournament mode. Ironically, this only happens when playing offline, as online I have never seen this.

Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

I actually haven't had this on my home PS4 but I've had it on 3 others I've played on at my local.

Idk if it has to do with A/V system settings but I play with MY PS4 Output at 720p. So maybe that's the catch. I'm probably wrong though

I've heard about the 720p setting as well being the optimal way to play. Not sure what my setup is on, I'll check it when I get home.
