What you think is the real reason of the variations?

To me this is nothing new, If you look back to Mortal combat Armageddon, Deception, and few Others before, Each character had a about 3 variation, that you could switch during the fight, not before the fight. Like the weapon option, and different fighting styles. The just enhanced it a little more by changing the characters costume.
In my opinion the only cool thing about this "new" characteristic of the game is to have 3 different looks for each character.
In think this will be use in the story line, we will get to see the same character with 3 different looks depending on whats going on in the story line.

The xray in my opinion is also getting old. There isn't nothing new so far about this game, in my opinion. the only thing im looking forward is for the new characters and the story line.
I have to disagree. The MKDA - MKA styles were shallow and petty in comparison to the MKX variations.

This new variation system doesn't just merely change normal attacks. It changes properties of normals and specials and even changes the delivery of the X-Ray attack. For example, in one of Scorpion's variation he hits from the front with his X-Ray, while in another he hits from the back. This is much deeper than the old style system.

I just really hope that every character doesn't have a variation that gives them zoning options because then I feel like most battles will be a battle of the zones. That is, online at least.

Eh, people are just gonna pick the shit out of this games equivalent to Smoke and Kung Lao anyway.

Play local or with actual online friends. Random always left me irritated.

Let's be positive. They know what they are doing now, and surely don't want to repeat past mistakes: Interactables, RUN, too many new characters, and "stances"
are things they 've already tried before and didn't work so well... To me it seems they have the formula now.

Also, i'd like to add that the whole " we killed many characters in MK9 to create space for new ones" seems fishy.
So you killed iconic characters like Liu and Kitana, but let less popular like Sheeva and Kano still live? For the sake of new ones? C' mon...
You are right about the killing off the iconic characters thing, it just was so obvious the reason that they did that, but you have to understand that 20 years of kitana, liu kang, etc etc kind of gets tiring.

I do believe that this "killing off the iconic character" thing was a way to expand the story and the best way to do that you have to get rid of some old faces. make them have kids between each other, which is the case of Sonya and Johnny Cage, etc etc


The story in the game has become very important and I think that the MK team has realized that. what is the point of having a bunch of characters fight each other if there is no reason behind it?

and many others should stay dead for a long time and maybe in the future, far into the future when we will hopefully be able to fight them ourselves virtually, maybe then we can bring them back.




The most Iconic characters keep coming back in every game that comes out. most of them recycle their old moves.
every time they come back they have the same moves but they just look better because, hey, technology has come a long way.

I Forgive scorpion and subzero because they are the true faces of MK maybe Raiden because he could gather around new faces but other than that every character from mk 1, 2 and 3 should stay dead for many years.

Give the character from the 3D era another chance and lets have many new faces.
