What Is Apex Legends?

Apparently, I believe this game is new because I never heard of it, HOWEVER its being played by ALOOOOOOOT of FGC heads. I've seen Maximillion, Tekken community, and even SonicFox with Semijj play this game and stream on Twitch.

From what Uncle JBeezY gathered is the game is FREE.99, and take some elements from Fortnite & Black Ops. Its a FPS team game.

I think the game is teams of 3 fly from the top of the sky (just like Fortnite) and land on an island as a team, and be the last one standing by killing everybody else. I don't know the specifics but so far its kinda either looking like the NEW phenomenon or just the flavor of the month.

Has anybody else played this game or know more about it? Thinking about trying it myself and who knows maybe a team going ?Question mark?

Let's talk about it

it's a battle royal with different classes and a neat moment mechanic. it's honestly the only decent br I've played
I did see a couple of character models and they Black chick with the buns remind me of young Janet Jackson which i thought was soooooo cute! Then i heard her voice and she Jamaican ?Question mark? Hahah that threw me for a loop :p

TYM's #1 L taker.
Its another Battle Royale made by the Titanfall devs where you play as squads of 3 using character classes and some pretty good movement.

It's pretty fun, but I enjoyed Titanfall and haven't played any other Battle Royale games.

It's made by the same people, who not only created Titanfall 1 and 2, but also were the ones, who pretty much invented Call of Duty. So you can expect some excellent shooting mechanics.

From what I understand Apex Legends started off as Titanfall 3, but transformed into the game it is now. And it also lost some of the features, which were quite big in the Titanfall franchise (like big ass mechs and wall running). The enhanced mobility with the wall running supposedly made it harder to keep up with the rest of your team, so they took it out. The game is still fairly fast paced though. Lots of mobility for some characters.

I'm not a big fan of the game though, just like I'm not a big fan of Battle Royale in general. I prefer a game like Overwatch, where you just join a match and start killing stuff. You die and then 8 seconds later you respawn and start killing stuff again. When I watch Battle Royale streams, there are sometimes up to 10 minutes where absolutely nothing happens. The players just run around, look for new guys and opponents and that's it. There is just too much downtime in BR games for my taste and Apex Legends is not an exception. Also... games where you rely on your teammates to win can become quite toxic and demotivating after a while. I have had the same in Overwatch for quite a long time now.

I'm typically not a fan of Battle Royale games, but Apex Legends is great. The fact that your teammates can revive you changes up the 1 kill and done formula that Battle Royale games typically have. It also has a Borderlands feel with the way loot and stats are handled in the game.

It's free. Just download it and try it out. Or watch some gameplay videos on Youtube. But yeah, like others have said, it's a team-based FPS with different classes. Like, one character can see enemy footprints, another can send out holograms to trick enemies, and another can set up gas mines that tag and blind enemies who set them off. So it's just a lot more "flavorful" than your tradtional FPS games.

Interesting posts. So the genre is called Battle Royal now??

Back in my heeeeeey day, we just used to call them FPS (First person shooters) during the Halo times. Interesting how times change.

Sounds interesting. Kind of reminds me of a lame counter strike ripoff I used to play called Global Operations, where you pick different classes that had different abilites or access to gear.

OOO so if you die but your teammate finds your body, you can be revived? And is it only 1 revival or as many times as your teammates can ?

Those techniques sound sick! I just might try this game this week. But if you play by yourself, will you randomly be paired with others as a team?

All too easy...

It is an FPS, idk why everyone calls BR a genre when its a game mode (prob cus calling it a genre gives them more legitimacy than calling them an FPS with only one game mode)

It is better this way
Iv only been able to play it a couple hours but its pretty fun and I didn't enjoy Fortnite or other BRs. I think it's pretty satisfying an surprisingly balanced and it's totally free.

I feel like outside of Lifeline being mandatory for any composition, there can be a group of any characters and the team will be no better or worse than another. It does cater to several types of playstyles.

Yes, you'll always be in a team of 3. I've actually had a lot of fun being paired with randos, though, and even managed to win a match with one of them (after our 3rd rando quit mid-match). Hit me up if you want to play, though. Origin name is karaokelove.

So if you are downed, similar to Gears of War, your teammates can revive you. One of the Legends actually has an ability to revive quicker and heal. There are also health packs scattered throughout as well.
If you are killed, then your teammate must retrieve an item (forgot what its called) from where you were killed and take it to one of the multiple revival sites. Your teammates have 90 seconds to retrieve this item. Once it is held by them then there is no time limit. If you are revived then an airship drops you back onto the map at the revival location and you must go find weapons, gear, etc again. You can be revived over and over but like I said there is only a 90 second window when you can be retrieved. Smart players camp out by kills so you have to be careful.

I also forgot to mention the Ping system which is great in this game. Basically you can 'ping' items, weapons, enemies etc and spot them out for teammates. You can also give directions on where to go among other things. Its nice for people who don't have mics or prefer not to talk with randoms that communicating can still be done effectively.

Its really well done and very fun. When I win a skirmish or die I feel like it came down to superior skill or tactics, which is exactly what I want in a shooter. Most other BR games let some absurd bs determine the outcome of a game (looking at you in particular Fortnite).

This all sounds quite interesting. But is there a mode to battle it out all by yourself? Or it has to be teams of 3?
