Going "easy" on a new or inexperienced opponent is the worst thing you can do. It does nobody any favors. You cannot coddle people into the game.

Mortal Kombat is really hard. It is a competitive game, and like all competitive games, should only be played by competitors. If a brand new Mortal Kombat player walks into his first ever match with another opponent, he should expect to get his ass kicked.

People who have the confidence to step into the ring with a more skilled and experienced opponent, the perseverance to keep on playing said opponent despite ostensibly insurmountable climb to their opponent's skill level, and the fortitude and discipline to stick with it day after day after day, are the people we want in this community.

The people who need to be coddled, who are scared off and feel their pride grievously wounded by the mere presence of a challenge in a video game (or by the idea that someone could possibly be better than them at something)... Those guys aren't competitors. It is our sacred duty as Kombatants of both Earthrealm and Outworld to weed these weak souls out, so that a better community may emerge.

As for what I do personally, after assessing that they are indeed noobs after a game or two, I switch to whichever secondary I feel the need to work on. This way, I am able to play all out, yet my unfamiliarity with the character closes the gap, however narrowly, between myself and the less experienced opponent.

Honestly it depends. I usually go to someone i am learning and dont use sub gm. Now if I pick my jax (any vaiartion ) or kung and they rage quit the next time i see them. I pick sub gm and introduce them to jail and the the clone. By then i get hate msgs and just laugh. Dont go on rank unless u r ready imo. Also lbsh i dont care about online ranking anymore.

Now if u join a KOH i usually host them with my boy and set it to 4 and u join my room and really suck. I will be a dick and try to chase u from the room. Yeah i do that smh as i want good players to learn matchups

Don't play ranked.

As for other matches, don't go easy, you will just teach them bad habbits and it won't help them in the long run. I tend to pick a character I'm not as good with. I still play my hardest but it's not as overwhelming. They learn to get better, and I gain more experience with a new character. So win-win.

I like to pick a character I'm less skilled with, but still like using, to give myself a bit more of a challenge. 90% of the time, said character is Jacqui.

Practice combos and unrealistic setups and then I will let them win the round.

Sometimes I will just let them beat on me for a few hits by not blocking and then go serious for a few seconds and repeat until they win. Unless they are jerks or use scorpion tgen no mercy is shown :p

The anticipation is killing me
If they have a very low match record i play a little more cautious than usual to see what the opponent knows. If its someone new then it depends how i feel on the day. Might only do flashy combos, or unique setups, or repeat the same moves over and over until he/she learns how to block it.

It depends, sometimes I troll a little like a ultra cock, I spam the same move and see when they learn to block it, or I practice a new character or setups.
