What do the pros do when cross platforming?

So my question is what do pros who use control pads do when cross platforming? For example sonic fox uses control pads and not fight sticks. Does he just use xb1 pad for esl and ds4 pad for other tournaments that are on ps4? Or does he just use some sort of converter? I asked Tom Brady while he was streaming and he replied that he simply would not participate in an xb1 tournament. I want to participate in esl, but also in any ps4 tournaments if the opportunity arose and I'm just wondering what should i do to prepare. What converters are lag free and tournament legal? I have the original cronus (not the cronus max), but i read an article that talks about it being banned from tournament play due to random pausing, input lag, and programmable macros.
