"We are very pleased with the success of Mortal Kombat so far," says Tremblay, adding that the game has now sold close to 3m units worldwide.

"With the launch of Mortal Kombat, we have already paid for the acquisition of the Midway assets, and we are just beginning to leverage this acquisition with much more to come."

So it might be close to SFIV(released in 2008) and T6(released in 2009)? That's pretty cool. It's also pretty funny that a single popular IP could leverage itself out with a whole company buyout (okay it wasn't a big one, but a buyout nonetheless), and all it required was time and money given on the publisher's part and... the team doing what they had always been doing over a longer period of time. NRS deserves a pat on the back for shelling out such a great game.

Sheeva isn't Goro's wife. Goro is her husband.
It will beat SF4 as soon as Australia buys 100,000 units due to the new rating system.

Sinestro's might!
All I can say is ha. hahaha. hadihaha.

MvC3 was released early to compete with Mortal Kombat. And it did worse.

And if Warner sees it as a viable franchise then it will likely invest in it more so good news for the future!

Glad to hear it. mk deserves to outsell mvc3, which was unfinished and glitchy as hell.

This is pretty cool. Glad we can look forward to more of the franchise we love. Anyone who experienced MK1 in all it's glory on inferior consoles and arcade machines in the front of grocery stores next to the claw crane and kiddy rides...who would've thought.

Easily the best selling title of this year. At least a couple 100,000 people still playing actively, And no plans whatsoever to improve the games horrific Online, They should be ashamed of them selves. Their laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

Nah. As soon as Uncharted 3, BF3, and CODMW3 comes out, this game would be left in the dust. Probably D:

3 million is pretty damn good for a video game. Considering how well it was reviewed hopefully the next installment will sell even more.

Dont forget the extra money people paid for the excellent dlc.
Most of the people who have like above 150 wins own atleast 3 dlc characters, and some of them have the klassik costume pack.
