Isn't it Marvel drama?
Does someone know what the fuck happened?
They basically played random teams and derped it up in UMvC3 grand finals. Which is perplexing, because Chris G vs. Flocker is actually a really good rivalry right now.

Here's what not everyone knows, pot splitting has been going on for a long time and is very notorious in the marvel scene, I can't remember the last event I went to where I did not hear from a very good source that marvel top 8 is NOT splitting. Thats right, not just the two people in grand finals, it'll usually be all of top 8. And what's really fucked up is, sometimes it includes players who know the right top players, that did not even make it into top 8, and at the same time, will exclude players that DID make it into top 8, but arent seen as a threat, or are not best friends with a threat. This happened at one of the smallest majors I have been to, and this also happens at the biggest major in the united states.

But here's the thing, you can't do anything about it. The players are gonna do what they want to do with their money, it's their money. Evo thinks they have done something about it by making out checks in their names to the big money prize winners, but they'll just send the difference over via paypal when they get home.

My point is, that pot splitting wasnt the issue here, it was not hiding it. And I think that was a shot at vxg, showing everyone that neither of us care who is "VXG" champion, but what happened at evo? I dont know for a fact that those two split (or probably even more especially considering there was more money than a regular major) but they probably did and they still played the fucking game and didnt pick their troll team. I don't think they should be punished, and I especially don't think the TO should be punished but its just very disrespectful as a player to your friends and fans watching at home.

Sounds like Smash Bros. all over again.

This ends up impacting the credibility of tournaments and the enjoyment of these games for spectators more than the players think or care.

Something should honestly be done to discourage this kind of shit. It is incredibly disrespectful to event organizers/sponsors/spectators.

KDZ is my best friend and he never once offered to split with me, nor have I asked him to split. I feel it takes away alot from your gameplay. I'm also not a fucking bum with no job who needs the money or is in this for the moeny
that was a joke post

As far as sandbagging GFs that isnt cool and I agree shouldn't happen.

Pot splitting as far as I am concerned is none of my(or anyone else's) business as it is their money that they won.

Well not only does pot splitting look bad for the credibility of tourneys and the scene...

The people who it really hurts, and should be the ones ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT are the SPONSORS.

If Chris G. wants to keep blatantly pot splitting, it should be up to AGE (his sponsor) to step in and say "knock it off" or suspend him, cut him loose, etc. They are the ones with the products and brand names these players are representing. Why the hell would I want to go out and support AGE by purchasing one of their products when their representing players are a guy who blatantly pot splits and makes lame excuses for when he loses, and a guy who can't be on a stream for literally less than a minute without using the "N" word five times minimum. These are the people THEY chose to represent them yet when these things happen they do absolutely nothing about it. They are just as much to blame as the players themselves.

AGE, is no more :(

Chris G is now officially his own man for the time being.

Truth, justice and the American way.
Sponsors need to step up and salary their fighters.

Pot splitting happens because the pay out puts food on their tables until the next big major.

So the grand finals are split so both players can win, and the community loses.

Outside of that, pick your shit and play it out. No need to be so blatantly obvious about it.

Calling anyone out for smoking weed is fucking stupid imo. What does that have to do with anything.

You're such a shitty person that you engage in an activity that 70% of the American population has tried or actively partake in regularly!

Dumb.

Pot Splitting is no different than throwing a game in any organized sport. It hurts the integrity of the sport. If I am going to be glued to a stream and watch ads all day to support the streamer I want to see every player playing to win.

When they don't, it just takes all the drama, the hype, and legitness away from a spectacle that is trying to attract an audience it so sorely needs more of.

So? I didn't like it either man, but it's their call, a lot of players take blows to their pockets when traveling to these tournaments, sponsored or not.

Maybe it shouldn't have been so blatant, but it's their decision and the way they wanted to assure getting money.

Plus...it's a videogame, this isnt the NBA...

You're right, it isn't the NBA. But someday it would be nice if the FGC got bigger and had more payouts. Behavior like this shys away sponsors, pisses off fans, To's, and other competitors.

It most definitely shouldn't be blatant at all. If it is even 10% worth considering if someone threw a tournament for somebody, or they were splitting (and MK players don't act like it didn't happen there either) it's not good for anyone. It just looks dirty.

This in my opinion is one of the worst problems with the FGC these days. They want the big payouts, large events, pro streams, etc.. but don't want to deal with the other stuff it takes to get those things like stricter rulesets, upholding the integrity of the tournaments as Take mentioned, and yes... even catering to your AUDIENCE. The FGC still has that "if you're a player and at tourneys you matter. If you're watching from home you don't mean jack" attitude.

namath, I totally agree with you and others who say "it's their money, let them do with it what they want." Sure.. but PLAY THE GODDAMN MATCH and don't sit there like the promoters, sponsors, streamers, TO's, other players in attendance, etc who all make it possible for you to be sitting there in that grand finals chair don't mean shit to you which is exactly what these guys did.

If they had played it out for real this would not be an issue. Hell you could even agree that whoever wins gets a bigger piece of the pot. Pot splitting is whatever, it is there money, but give people a real match.

Sorry this is incorrect. Pot splitting isn't the same as throwing a game at all. The recent versus mayhem 3 v 3 tournament my team won and we split the pot with the 2nd place team. Both teams went all out in grand finals and even Watson didn't know we split. He was kinda ticked because it was late and it dragged out after a bracket reset but pot splitting doesn't mean people don't try. In some cases they just do random or troll teams like chris and flocker in the finals but thats not always the case. I guarantee if you watched the matches you wouldn't think we split at all.

As I said above. If there is even a suspicion of splitting...it ruins the integrity of the event. In your case, you both went hard, but the question would always remain..."Were they trying as hard as they could to win?"

With pot splitting that becomes a difficult question to answer. It goes against the competitive nature of sports.
