Guide - Venomous Venemous Living Guide

Good shit. Also a Venomous main here (I also play a bunch of Quan). I was going to upload some better combos than listed, but it seems many have already been added in the comments. I haven't been out to play at official events yet, but I've been labbing and grinding the hell out of her vs human opponents. Also, writing "I" instead of "this one" so many times in a paragraph hurt.

In the corner you always want to end in restand because that is where she has her vortex. The midscreen one is pretty good.

As far as her being unsafe goes, she is unsafe on some things but there are ways around it. For instance, she has Option selects that make sure the spray doesnt come out on block. You also have to use her safe strings like f11 and 11, 21 as well.
That way you can bait your opponent into trying to down poke and then blow them up for it.

She does get out damaged combo wise but with venom's DoT her damage adds up VERY FAST. After 4-5 pokes most people are down like 25% health. Not to mention 2-3 D2s and they are in the same situations. Her pressure strings usually only lead to spray, which is exactly what she wants. On most characters after 212 I like to end in puddle. This is MU dependent of course, if they can punish it I just go for 21 into a d1 or 21 into throw.

She's a character that is about pure fundamentals. All of her footsie tools do DoT, which means if you have good footsies you will run the opponents life bar down quick. Her only truly dirty thing is her corner vortex, but its unsafe so its not really that bad. The rest is just trying to whittle the life bar down with venom and get in for the 50/50. You also should be throwing a LOT as her throw does venom damage and throws are insanely hard to tech in this game. Sometimes if I am in 50/50 range I'll opt to just go for the throw and then run up for pressure.

Whenever I lose with her 99% of the time it is due to fundamental errors on my part(Not punishing right, not anti airing consistently, being free to crossups, not making the right reads etc.) I rarely feel like I dont have the tools to win(except in the Tanya MU, that shit is baaaaaddd).
I can understand that. But I'm saying she's a character you have to work considerably harder to be good at unfortunately. Maybe I'm getting mindless because Swarm Queen is just such an amazing character, but with SQ if you mis a poke against her pressure it leads to a very damaging combo. I'm finding that Venmous combos really only are a result of jump ins and punishes. Maybe a f34 mixup on bug spray.

Plus on block.
You said in your list of cons that Venomous doesn't do nearly as much damage as the other two, how does Brood Mother out damage Venomous?

Updated with patch changes and how they affect her, still working on finding goood combos so if you find something consistent that is better than the ones listed please let me know!

Also if there are any MUs that you may want to be covered in the guide first let me know that as well.

Ok, I'm just going to post up my corner combos and restands. When I say there are additional ticks, I mean ones that happen after the opponent gets up or after bug spray so that you can potentially add more venom stacks.

11b2, d3, d1 [x4], 112~db4 (33+11=44%, no additional ticks.)
ji1, 11b2, d3, d1 [x3], 112~db4 (34+14=48%, no additional ticks. This combos showcases how you can do more damage with less stacks if the venom timer is about to run out.)
11b2, d1, 112~df1 (Restand 28+3=31%, no additional ticks)
212,~db1, d3, d1 [x3], 112~db4 (33+10=43%, two additional ticks)
212~db1, d1, 112, df1 (restand 30+3.3=33.3%, three additional ticks)
NJP, ji1, d1 [x4], 112~db4 (32+10=42%, no additional ticks)
NJP, ji1, d1, 112~df1 (Restand, 28+3.14=31.4, one additional tick)

1 Meter Restands
212~db1, d3, d1 [x3], 112~ EX df1 (37+7=43%, two additional ticks)
11b2, d3, d1 [x4], 112~ EX df1 (37+4=41%, no additional ticks)
NJP, ji1, d1 [x4], 112~ EX df1 (36+7.4=43.4% no additional ticks.

I realized today that spawning pool is stronger in the corner than it used to be. I use f11~spawning pool occasionally in the corner, but now Venomous can over 40% off the same setups, should the spawning pool hit.

db1, d1 [x5], 112~db4 ( 32+12.44= 44.44, one additional tick)
db1, d1 [x3], 112~df1 (Restand 31+4.96= 35.96%, two additional ticks)
db1, d1 [x5], 112~EX df1 (Restand, 39%+4.56= 44.56, one additional tick)

Also, remember that if you find these combos too easy or too hard, just add or subtract d1's. These are the max amounts I was able to hit, but maybe someone else has better timing. Another d1 would actually be a ton of damage too, adding 4.5% damage from venom to the first combo listed in this post.

Personally, I would subtract a d1 from all of these online because of the 10/10 rule, but my execution sucks.

I like D'Vorah Venomous Variation a lot. Why ?

First she is good online because she is lagproof :) I don't need combos to play good.

Second I'm too lazy to learn Swarm Queen Wasp Granade cancels :)

Immortal Kombat

almost moderate success
Great guide, I've been learning venomous here and there for the last month or so, couple questions about the guide...
Using b1,2 to break armor...
So if I do 1,1,2 and I think they will armor through, I can break their armor if I stop after 1,1,2, and do b1,2?
Also, you mentioned it's best to use puddle when they are running at you because it will track them. This doesn't seem to work for me at all. Can you explain?

Good D'Vorah move is F42. That attack hits low and F4 has good recovery. So.....

You can use only f4 and then suprise your opponent with f34 (overhead) and combo him. I've tested that online and everything works very fine.

Yeah but it's very hard to react. Trust me I used that tech in few online fights and it works :) - 5 is very small disadvantage and everyone expect second low hit.

Why ? I know it's hard to belive but everybody eat this :) Do 2 times F42, hit opponent low and then trust me they will start to block low.

Watch from 6:10 and you will see :)
I like that as a mixup but it feels a bit risky. While it probably does condition them well the f42 is -14 on block, thus pretty punishable. I bit online it is beast because people can't get their punishes out quick enough, but offline I worry that would be a match ending gambit for me. I'd rather b1df1 a few times in the same situation to make them respect my low game.
