Tom Brady’s back!

Tom talks out of both sides of his mouth, depending on which audience is watching.

A couple of days ago, I walked into the lion's den in order to defend Mortal Kombat 1 as well as the NRS community from Mike and his spectators.

M2Dave is insufferable. Good job Mike, MK1 is traaaaaaaash. I gave this game atleast 120hrs, its pure tripe. Do i have to go on a grind session every update to have an opinion? Thats why 1st impressions in ALL things in life are important.
Tom could have challenged the preconceived notion that "Mortal Kombat is trash". Instead, he rehashed archaic and formulaic talking points for five consecutive hours.

You may argue that I was too harsh on Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 1 throughout its first year, but I refuse to defecate on this franchise and community after the developers implement tremendous adjustments, which consist of mostly buffs for characters.

Speaking of buffs, do you recall the "Mortal Kombat 1 sucks because of low power levels" talking point that survived for eight months?

This talking point eventually vanished like Smoke only for certain obsolete talking points (i.e., the kameo system sucks, the offline tournament numbers suck, etc.) to be resurrected and recycled ad infinitum.

On social media, standing against something is easy. Standing for something is difficult.

Tom has stood for absolutely nothing for at least as long as Mortal Kombat 1 has been released.

“Players aren’t traveling” has really never been true. We just had Sonic, Scorpionprocs, Nicolas, JavierMK, Grr, 2eZ, KillerXinok, Konqueror travel to a country that none of them live in (Mexico) for a tournament. Javier came all the way from Europe.

Sik just traveled to his first offline major, and Cale flew to his first now at TxShowdown. We’re seeing players who mostly streamed online start to come out.

And we’ll have even more people qualify for Final Kombat online or in a tourney in their region and travel to the finals.

I have just posted the following on Mike's YouTube channel:

Mortal Kombat 1 has 150 participants at Texas Showdown this weekend. In fact, the game only trails Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8, both of which have 280 participants. Check Eventhubs in order to confirm this information.

Yes, the total number could and should be higher, but for a "trash" NRS game that is approaching the end of its lifespan (if the leak holds accurate), this number is fairly typical, if not slightly above average.

Players within the NRS community and outside of this echo chamber continue playing Mortal Kombat 1. Players are participating in offline as well as online tournaments (albeit, as I have already stated, the offline numbers should be higher). The character and kameo variety is excellent. The audience is engaged and watching. The game has sold five million copies and counting.

Again, outside of Mike's YouTube channel, which lives in a bubble comprised of alternative facts, the game is vastly improved and succeeding.

After.
The argument of the game was total garbage on release so it improving means its just a little less shit is very basic and ignores nuance of the moment to moment gameplay aspects.

I stopped watching shortly after you guys switched the topic to tekken so i dont know if you came back to speaking more on mk1 later on, but you defiently could have destroyed his argument even more by going in detail how the targeted buffs and new moves vastly increased fun and engagment of the combo systems as well as deepen and diversify the meta and strategies used.

Like for example the faster recovery of scorpion bf2 and faster and standardised launch of sektor missile opend up brand new routes and strategies for an already fun team. Rain new string and cancles and their interraction with rain god special to creat high execution optimals. Etc. Mike would have been a total fish out of water if you did that, and it would not have been a game is just a little less shit vs vastly improved type disscusion that his fans jump on and say he is in the right.

But on the flip side this is also a bit of a genreouse way of talking about the game as only specifically the gameplay aspect and pvp matches are disscused. Unfortunetly as great as the improvments are in that regard(though i would like to see more) other aspects of the game, in thems of qol features, online functionality, custimization, progression, story, singleplayer modes, microtransactions, and so on still greatly plague the game as a total product and the mk1 critics do havr a point and a leg to stand on there. But they are also using those issues to also tear down the ganeplay aspects unjustly( considering the current state of gameplay).

Dave, don't make this even worse for yourself
You spent 5 hours proving everything that me and Tom have been speaking about true. You insulted me, insulted my community and insulted your friend multiple times. In the end, you were the perfect guest for this because it represented the level of delusion only present on Twitter. Tom pulled up cold hard facts. You went quiet and moved the goal posts. Yes, Mortal Kombat had the 3rd largest showing at Texas Showdown with 144 entrants, but if you want to pull offline tournaments numbers then we can look at every tournament it has been at and will be at and see how it measures up. We both know it won't look good. There's no alternative facts on my channel, you just didn't like the fact that your friend came prepared with the cold hard truth and all you could respond with was "SHUT THE F*CK UP, TOM" or "Listen to your Prophet, chat". You did yourself and the MK community no favours and I even had people reach out to me afterwards telling me that they don't agree with a lot of my talking points, but that YOU made it incredibly difficult for them to defend Mortal Kombat. Your debate skills are the worst that we have ever seen on this channel and I've had some questionable speakers on. Still, appreciate you coming on and for your generous donation and of course, you'll be welcome back on again if there's something of worth to speak about. You sure seemed to have a problem with me defending some girls in the community

@RealMikeHollow Some of your guests make counter arguments while apologizing to you. I have already told you that my rhetoric is rather confrontational yet informative and entertaining. Considering that this live stream is already one of your most watched, I stand by rhetorical style. In terms of the substance of your argument, you offered none other than year-one talking points about the kameo system and the online gameplay. Even the most devoted Mortal Kombat 1 defenders and supporters admit that if you dislike the kameo system, Mortal Kombat 1 is not for you. Neither is Street Fighter 6 if you dislike the drive gauge system nor Tekken 8 if you dislike the heat system. However, are any of these fighting games "trash" in their current state? They are objectively not. Tom is my friend, but he has been talking out of both sides of his mouth, depending on which audience is watching. He attacks or protects Mortal Kombat 1 when convenient. He has been moving the goal post about Sub Zero, power levels, offline tournament numbers, etc. since Mortal Kombat 1's release. Nonetheless, I have lots of respect for you (and Tom) for inviting me and giving me an opportunity to present a different perspective, which your audience desperately needs to hear. I would love to return one day. Thank you again for having me on (and EDIT: for pinning my comment).

Nobody needs to apologize to me for making counter arguments and I actually don't know who you're referring to since I don't remember that happening ever. Yes, it's the 25th most watched stream on my channel, but not because there was a good back and forth. It's because people couldn't believe their ears at the things you were saying. I've dealt with way more confrontational people than yourself. This came across as childish, no offense and it didn't offer me the challenge I was promised. Again, because you didn't listen you don't get it so I'm not going to go over it with you for the 100th time. Everybody else understood the points me and Tom were making including my detractors. For that reason, the second paragraph here is just a repeat of what we dealt with for 5 hours. I even asked you three times to answer a basic question and you went off rambling about something else. I actually couldn't get straight answers out of you so it stands to reason that you have issues listening or digesting information. Tom was not talking out of both sides of his mouths. He gave you cold hard facts and you ignored it to the point that he put his hands over his face. I've not seen Tom do that before so well done
You can definitely return one day. Not sure what the next topic will be, but I'd be happy to have you on.

Alternative facts, indeed. Next time, include all the replies in your own bubble on the internet. :DOGE

I saw half of this live and later watched the rest; everything Mike Hollow said about you was true.
