Thursday* Night Fights - Weekly Community Roundup

Hey everyone! Long time no write. Coming back to the crew at TestYourMight with a new weekly feature we are planning on running to help connect folks with competitive events going on all throughout the year. In this series, I'll be sharing a list of online and offline events for the upcoming week that you fine folks can sign up for, and posting recaps for past tourneys. Are you hosting your own tournament? Working with a venue to start a new local? Got a King of the Hill planned this weekend with a $10 prize pool on the line? If you have ones you want me to share, send me a DM and I'll do my part to spread the word. Expect these to start posting earlier in the week to give everyone time to plan their schedule, the asterisk in my new, trademarked title is not permanent:

OFFLINE EVENTS
21636
-ComboStarter, May 23: Brought to you by Tento and my good friend Baconlord, ComboStarter in Illinois is adding Mortal Kombat 1 to its lineup! ComboStarter is a planned mini-event for people who will be in the area for Combo Breaker next weekend. Hosting a roster of other games as well, if you are going to the big show and want something to do the day before, go get some practice in and make some friends at this venue right down the street from the Schaumburg Convention Center: https://www.start.gg/tournament/combostarter-2024/details

-Final Kombat LCQ, June 14: Still a little ways off, but a good reminder while it's still open - Final Kombat, the Last Chance Qualifier to get into the Pro Series Finale is coming up and entries are on a first come, first serve basis. If you think you've got the skill but haven't been able to get the points to secure your spot, this is your opportunity to earn a spot fighting the best of the best for the $200,000 prize. This is in Canada, so beware: https://www.start.gg/tournament/final-kombat-mk1-pro-kompetition/details

-Momocon, May 24-27: Like anime? Like conventions? Going to be in Georgia that weekend? Have I got the place for you! Momocon is back and they are running a series of competitive gaming events, Mortal Kombat 1 included. If you are looking to do something that isn't Combo Breaker, here's a fun alternative that'll have a lot of other stuff going on to enjoy between pools: https://www.start.gg/tournament/momocon-2024-7/details

-Extrodinaire Arcade Tournament Series, May 26: Here's one for people over on the west coast, Extrodinaire Arcade in San Bernardino is hosting an event next Sunday featuring, you guessed it, Mortal Kombat 1, among other games. Looking to be a pretty sizable local, head on down if you are around and play some pinball if you wind up going 0-2: https://www.start.gg/tournament/extrodinaire-arcade-tournament-series-2024/details

-King of Upstate, June 8: Didn't forget the people on the east coast, the ELITE Gaming Arena in Syracuse, NY is hosting an event 2 weeks from now, with Mortal Kombat 1 being one of the featured side games. Haven't been there myself, but the venue seems cool and there's a lot of events they host throughout the year and this might be a good one to get started with: https://www.start.gg/tournament/king-of-upstate-2024/details

ONLINE EVENTS
21634
-HDGG Weekly 44, May 28: HDGG Weekly is a free to enter event hosted by the HDGamingGroup on Twitch. Their next event is taking place 2 weeks from now and it looks like they do have prizing for those who earn a spot in the ending qualifier tournament with the close of this 16 week series. The sooner you qualify, the better your seeding, so get the jump in while you can: https://www.start.gg/tournament/hdgg-weekly-44-mk1/details

-The ABCs of Kombat, June 1: Hosted by The Kombat Network and The Alphabet, The ABCs of Kombat is an upcoming event featuring "special guest commentators, secret fights and a $300 prize pot (plus Matcherino donations)". They have a 32 player cap, so make sure to enter soon while it's still open (stated preference for NA East players, but not a requirement): https://www.start.gg/tournament/the-abc-s-of-kombat/details

-Iakombat 1, May 21: Here's one coming from RodimusPrime1986, Iakombat looks to be a new, free to enter online series for Mortal Kombat 1. This one is offering the prize of a free art commission by the host, as well as your match hosted by itself on his channel should you want a little prestige to show off your skills/promote your own channels: https://www.start.gg/tournament/iakombat-mk1-1/details

-PRIDEfgc 2024, June 21: A joint effort by multiple orgs, PRIDEfgc 2024 is an upcoming online event with the entry pot being donated towards the Trevor Project. Aiming to push this as an "Online Major", if you are looking to play some games and do some good, check this one out: https://www.start.gg/tournament/pridefgc-2024/details

-Nueva Krema 13, May 28: So I'm going to be honest, I do not speak speak the language in this one, but wanted to include it with the list because they have a notice that the hosts do speak English and encourage English speaking players to enter. Looks like there's some prizing with this one too, just be mindful that you may be playing with people on the other side of the globe if you do enter: https://www.start.gg/tournament/nueva-krema-13-mortal-kombat-1-weekly-online-krossplay-mk1/details

That's it for this one. Really want to stress, if you have something you want to share, don't be afraid to reach out to me! No matter the size of the event, if it's something you are excited to be a part of and want people to join, let's work together to boost those numbers and keep people playing!

Oooo. Had NOT heard of PRIDEfgc before. Love me the Trevor Project so absolutely gunna sign up. First ever official tournament signup for me so let's see how it goes.

Guess I gotta get back to playing MK1 again after a hiatus since Quan's release.

Yeah, that one caught my eye because it seems like a lot of people are pushing to make it big. Hoping they get a big turnout and make it a regular thing

This is super helpful as i am a part time venue owner and wanting to run an mk tourney one day, i also had no idea about many of those june tournaments. Thank you for this thread!
