Note: Raiden forums here don't have the variation prefixes for threads like the other character forums do.

This has already been discussed by members of this forum, but I created a video showing multiple instances of the 50/50:

Essentially, Raiden can combo into grounded f12 which is +17 on hit. His overhead and low combo starters are both 13f startup i think, so it becomes a true 50/50 between high and low block, with reversals not even being possible.

He can loop this in the corner (not midscreen due to stamina) for a 50/50 vortex.

You can choose to "cash out" and do a higher damage combo if you do successfully reset them into overhead or low, or go back into the 50/50 mixup.

Sample corner combos:
if you want to restand into 50/50:
[overhead]
b2 b2 b14 LRC f12
b2 b2 214 exDF2 b14 LRC f12

[low]
b32(hold) njP b14 LRC f12
b33 exDF2 b2 b14 LRC f12

[pressure starter]
f12b2(hold) njP b14 LRC f12

Cashing Out: 1 bar
[overhead]
b2, b2, b14~lrc, 214~exdf2, 213, f12b2, f12b2, 4~df2 1 bar 48%

[low]
b33~exdf2, b2, b14~lrc, 213, f12b2, njp, f12b2, 4~df2 1 bar 43%
(thanks tony t)

meterless
[overhead]
b2 b2 b14 LRC 213 f12b2(hold) njP f12b2(hold) 4 df2 (41%)

[low]
b32 b14 LRC b2 f12b2(hold) njP f12b2(hold) 4 df2 (31%)

Was known since first week, although it took some time to realize that f12 is better midscreen than 21, I think.
Good find nevertheless - people still don't use this enough.

Good catch with forum tags too.

When you get someone in the corner with this, how many lighting cancels do you usually do? Or do u just loop it the whole time in he corner? I feel like doing it once or twice would be efficient because you would probably want to add some big dmg while you're in the corner because sooner or later they will guess right, correct? Or do u just constantly loop it if that's even possible?

you can only do 1 lightning run cancel per combo, and you need to do it at the end of the combo for this specific tech.

the non meter versions of the restand into LRC into f12 do only like 20% in the corner, so using meter to bump it to 30-40% to restand is not a bad idea to reduce the amount of mixups you have to do.

if the setup successfully turns into another hit off overhead or low, "cashing out" with a big combo into 40-45% is also a good idea just for big damage. and knockdown isn't too bad.

So like an ideal big combo would be, b2, b2, 2,1,4 ex df2 b14 Lightning cancel? Seems to be big dmg then can get the true 50/50. But, let's say you do that combo and they guess wrong on the 50/50. Well that starts a new combo, right? So you can just do the Lightning cancel again couldn't u? Just pretty mich looping if they guess wrong everytime. I'm newish to raiden so I'm just trying to figure this all out so I can learn this stuff. Having some trouble with the actual fireball cancel too.

b2, b2, 2,1,4 ex df2 b14 Lightning run cancel f12 as part of the whole combo. does 41%

f12 is important, if you hit it, you are at +17frames. without it, you're only at about +7, so they can escape your b2 or b3 mixup.

you can loop it for that much damage if you have meter. since the 1 meter setup does around 30 for low, and 40 for overhead, you need at least 2 meters to do 60-80% damage if they guess wrong both times.

So what combo do you usually use after the cancel and if they guess wrong? The low and high? I'm trying to figure out the best combo after the cancel and the f12. Both on the low and high.

For corner I'm doing

B2, B2, 214xxEXDF2, B14 which sets up my high/low option

B32(hold), B14 then into finisher

B2,B2, 214xxEXDF2, B11 1+3 = 43%

Been hitting this a lot in matches online and do mix ups for high low starter. If you can carry them to the corner early it's game over if they guess wrong and you're on point.

if you want to restand into 50/50:
b2 b2 b14 LRC f12

b33 exDF2 b2 b14 LRC f12

Nice thanks for the info. One last thing.. Now you personally as a player, how often do you go for the stand 50/50 before u just go for the raw damage. Because it looks like u can just loop it and have them just having to keep guessing. There w certain amount of times you do the lrc before you go for a big dmg combo? Or does it just all depend on the match and situation? Sorry if it's hard to understand my question. It's kinda hard to explain what Im asking.

generally, if they are in their first 60% of their life, i'll do reset. if they are lower than 40%, i think that a 30% or more combo is more important.

I agree. I still need practice on the LRC. It's easier comboing it into f12. but, when i do the corner combo that u put where i have to cancel b2,b2 b14 into LRC it's hard for me to connect the 214 after. I dont know, just need practice I guess. Fingers get all jumbled pressing all these different buttons lol

Probably a dumb question. Is there an easy way to do the LRC? I mean its db1 and hold 1, right? And then just dash R2 for run, correct? I guess there cant really be an easier way for it. just have to practice.

I was wanting to update the vortex thread with a vid showing how F1,2 is way better. Instead I was lazy and just edited in a sentence saying to use it instead of 2,1 lol. Thanks for putting it into video form. Now people can see it since the old thread faded into the distance

What is better option to cancel into ? F12 or 21 ?
So LRC F12 or LRC 21 ?

21 has 12 frames start up and +22 on hit, so I guess this one would be harder to connect after LRC, but has more +frames (22) on hit
F12 has 8 frames start up and +17 on hit, so this one would be easier to connect because of faster start up, but has less + frames(17) on hit

what do you guys think ?
what would be better to use for more consistent connect?

ya but I was thinking to use F12 just to get more consistent cancels, bacuase it's faster move and cuz I can't connect LRC 21 every time..timing is strict

I find Raiden's fireball cancel harder than Dvorahs. I play dvorah and dabbling in raiden and Raiden's seems more strict. Im not sure if its just me or if its actually true.

it just has variable timing based on the combo you do. the most important thing is hitting b1 when they are high off the ground as possible.
