By popular demand I am returning from exile and one sentence posts to inform the community where everyone's stock stands post Final Round.
Wafflez: Stock skyrocketed. I have no idea how it happened but Tommy has somehow managed to stumble his way into a major win. I guess he got lucky he didn't run into his master, Blackula. In winning Tommy has raised the stock of GGA & Smoke, plummeted the stock of downplaying dumbasses like HD Smoke, Ribbz, Frothy and KT Smith and given M2Dave the worst day of his life. Some are talking about how excited Tommy must be to have won a trip to VXG. These people don't truly understand what makes young Thomas tick. For him it wasn't about the money or the beach. He did it...for the props.
Wound Cowboy: Stock up. Another strong 2nd place finish, proving SCR wasn't a fluke. Sadly just like SCR he got his back blown out in the grand finals. Is this his curse? Regardless, most of us aren't even good enough to get into the grand finals to get bodied in the first place so I can hardly dock him for that. Cowboy's second dominate showing has proven the community finally needs to stop being lazy and learn the Shang Tsung MU. Even if it's only one player doing something he's good enough to be a threat for everyone. Watching the stream you'd have thought f+4~skull looped was a block infinite.
Scar: Stock up. As one of the top Skarlet haters and downplayers I must admit it pains me to give Scar props. However, when it comes to the stock market I'm unbiased and reasonable and will give the devil his due. 2 years into the game Skarlet finally delivers, with a big win over Carl and beating the champion of the tournament earlier in pools. No Kitana or Mileena in the top 8 either, meaning Skarlet was queen of the female ninjas this time. Ugh this sucks let's move on.
Tyrant: stock up. Yet another solid top 8 finish for EGP's star. He avenged his loss to Carl from EVO last year and again has caused CD Jr to pop off about being the best Jax in an attempt to remind the world he still exists.
Gross: Stock up. Two top 8 placings in a row has proven Gross can hang with America's best. Has lost all rights to being called "Smoke of the World" but could arguably be "Sektor of the world"(I still say it's PPJ though!). Had the champion Tommy beat if it wasn't for bullshit resets and conversions but since he also plays Smoke I have no sympathy. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Jeremiah: Stock way up. AMERICA'S SWEETHEART places top 8. After living in the Sheeva ghetto for 2 years everyone's favorite player finally goes top tier and makes it out of pools...only to return to his girl in top 16 to stomp his way into the top 8. Even roommate Soonk was probably impressed.
Carl: Stock neutral. It feels like Carl wasn't even at this tournament for some reason. Showed up, blew up his pool early in the morning, got bodied by Scar, disappeared until halfway into the top 8, snuck into the top 8, then got bodied by Tyrant. Then probably left to mutter to DOA players about low hitbox characters. Despite the less than stellar showing this may be all part of Carl's plan to again get bodied early in the year then somehow win EVO. It's worked twice before.
Pokchop: Stock up. Highest placing ATL player and has squashed the talking point that no other Kenshi can place in the top 8. Props for the goofy fatality dancing. For some reason the MKC blows him up for popping off on Blake, even though it's a justified blowup considering Pokchop doesn't care about this game and beats a guy who's dedicated to MK and said they were confident in the Kenshi MU. I, for one, love the antics.
Mr. Mileena: Stock neutral. Didn't place top 8 but remains Online's Sweetheart, which is not quite Jeremiah love but is up there. Gets props points for beating up Lord of the Fly with Kitana, who despite being best friends with Kitty killer Pig can't ever seem to beat the princess.
Noobe: Stock up. A solid top 16 placing coming off top 8 at Winter Brawl means Noobe is officially done being washed up and is back to being a top player. Props for beating Cat but negative props for losing to Carl, who hates Cyrax almost as much as he hates Johnny Cage. Almost.
Pimpimjim: Stock up. Pulled off the shocker of the year so far with a win over Pig. I'm still baffled at the choice of using Johnny Cage against Tommy. We all know fledging Thomas is absolutely free to Dizzy but that doesn't mean anyone's Cage can do it(contrary to my frequent emo tears what Dizzy does with Cage actually does take skill).
Cat: Stock up. Gets big props points for overcoming the tricky girlfriend MU and giving us the grudge match with Pig we all wanted to see. Somehow can body Pig but struggles against a washed up Chris G.
Pig of the Hut: Stock down. Finally has one bad tournament and goes full Menoutis emo. I don't dare say the words "washed up" because I fear the enevitable pop off when he places top 8 at UFGT. I predict head banging and screaming about how no one believed in him.
Reptile community: Stock down. Chris G once again does better with Reptile than actual dedicated MK players. MKC Reptile players cry and downplay Reptile while Chris G dashes and jumps around like an idiot and beats or at least gives serious trouble to top players. Can we stop listening to the Reptile players on TYM already? Chris G doesn't play this game and understands the character better than they do. I'm sorry but it's fact. Remember we're supposed to be fighting these Capcom invaders when Injustice drops. Yikes.
