Figured we could use a spot to discuss RoboCop without cluttering up the announcement threads.

What we know, so far: "Robocop has a technological arsenal at his disposal including a flamethrower, riot shield, shoulder cannon with different ammunition types and, of course, his iconic Auto 9 Pistol."



We also know he uses his data spike, possibly as a fatality:

Considering he's most likely going to be using his Auto 9 pistol as a base move in all variations, his shoulder cannon will hopefully have different utility than just another projectile. With NRS's history of recycling moves, I wouldn't be surprised if it functioned like Predator's HQT shoulder cannon. However, we've already seen that they're not afraid to give characters redundant moves, like Shao Kahn's hammer throw, so it's possible it will just be another standard projectile with variable ammunition types.

he will be most likely a mix of the robots and predator+some unique things.
after terminator i am not really sure if they will manage to make something good out of him due to the limitations he has as a char by itself but lets see how it turns out.

Didn't he have a jetpack in the 3rd film (I've seen 1 and 2 a ton but only seen the 3rd once on video decades ago)

I'm really curious what kind of customization options they're going to give him, since he's only ever really had one look (other than in the shitty 2014 Ro-bro-Cop movie). I imagine his helmet, gun, and riot shield, if it's a base move. A maskless option would be pretty funny.


I imagine he'll have some sort of battle-damaged skin, kind of like Terminator.

Should I feel bad for having only seen the 2014 movie and none of the original films especially the first one since a lot of people say it's good?

The 1st one is really the only one worth watching. The 2nd one has some good stuff, but is overall just kind of goofy and boring. But the original is a legit masterpiece. And I think it's really easy to find on most streaming services.

Apparently the flamethrower is from Robocop 3, which even as a kid I knew was a piece of shit.


I have no idea where the Shoulder Cannon comes from, and can't find any references online. So either it's from an action figure, a video game, the cartoon, or NRS just pulled it out of their ass.

The first film is FANTASTIC. Directed by Paul Verhoeven. He also did two of my other favorite movies: Total Recall and Starship Troopers.

All of the Robocop sequels are awful though and the TV show was pretty lame. That 1st movie is great though. Super violent.

I never even bothered to watch the 2014 reboot. I just feel like it won't come anywhere close to the original, even if the original looks dated at this point.

Oh shit, I love Total Recall and didn't realize that was Verhoeven. I was afraid you were going to say "...other favorite movies: Showgirls and Hollow Man..."

I remember seeing it several times in theaters for some reason. I don't remember anything about it except that he's an invisible pervert and that it's supposed to be bad.

Probably similar to how Terminator works. I think his only internals are in his head and torso (except in the shitty 2014 remake when they gave him an exposed human hand for some stupid fucking reason). He has to eat a nutrient paste similar to baby food to nourish his biological components.

Did he have any grenades, rockets, or missles? Some type of zoner with traps/setups would be nice.

He had all kinds of nonsense in RoboCop 3, including a jetpack. They seem to be pulling his flamethrower from that movie. And he's been known to use whatever weapons he can find, like when he uses the bag guys' gun to blow up an ED-209 near the end of the first movie.

man, Robocop seems so sick awesome !! NRS knows pretty well how to port classic characters guest into MK universe !

cannot wait for the kombat kast , to show how amazing this character will be in MK 11 !

thanks , NRS and Ed Boon for bring this Robocop old school version into MK, pretty excited about !
