The past two NRS games have had "4-in-1" DLC characters...

MKX had Triborg which has Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke, and Cyber Sub-Zero variations.

Injustice 2 had the Ninja Turtles Leo, Mikey, Raph and Donny but as one character slot as well...

So could this finally be Chameleon's time to shine? I know he isn't extremely popular and all but if they want to continue the trend of having a "multi-character" DLC character in their games he would be the perfect character to do it with this time.

Reptile, Smoke, Noob, Ermac, Rain and maybe even Tremor.

If three (or four) of these characters are absent from the roster they could pull a Triborg/TMNT and bring in Chameleon and make three of his variations based on whatever three ninjas are missing (assuming they are)

Anyone think this is a possibility or is Chameleon just too unpopular and unrequested for it to actually happen?

Chameleon should get his own moveset if he comes back at all. If it has to stick to the "stealing other movesets" thing it should be closer to subtle mimicry or imitation rather than full-on ripping entire kits from other characters; on top of being kind of insulting to people who wanted those characters, Triborg is basically that already.

I always thought it would be cool if NRS brought Khameleon back, making her be something like the "martial arts teacher" of Kitana, Millena, and Jade. That way they could give her moves that are reminiscent of theirs, but without being a situation where she is just stealing moves. I don't know how it could be implemented into the male ninjas storywise, but refraining from directly stealing other characters moves would still be the right approach to making him.

And I agree that being relegated to be another character variation is insulting. I hated Triborg for that, and I hope NRS won't ever do it again.

I don't know if a 4-in-1 character would work in this game because of the way variations work. I'm just thinking if Triborg was in MK11, you could have a variation with a Cyrax costume and rocket and teleport punch abilities. It wouldn't really be a problem with tournament standard variations, but it seems like it has potential to be wonky.

Just off the top Goro, Kintaro, and Sheeva could work but I don't they'll make it in since Goro was dlc for MKX.

I think Cassie should've ultimately been a Sonya skin. That way her fans get her and they free up a character slot.

If they bring back any character with mimic based powers it should be Shang Tsung. While he’s not my favorite, he definitely deserves a spot over Chameleon/Khameleon. If they put Chameleon in this game over those characters you mentioned and gave him their moves, I think the fans of those characters would be more insulted than anything (See Mournful Kitana). I like what NRS has done with these 4-1 characters so far and seeing what they did with TMNT I have faith they have something really cool in the works.

Oh hell nah, nobody is taking Cassie away from us. Even if her move set is a mix of Johnny and Sonya she still has her own distinct style of fighting. Hopefully, they'll emphasize her brawler style with more use of her guns in there this time.
