What's new

The only guest character we need: Spider-man.

Reasons:

1. He'd sell more than any past NRS DLC character and probably get many more people to buy the game.

2. NRS's design for him would no doubt be amazing, unique and creative.

3. It would coincide with the hypest time for Spider-man in years with him finally getting another good movie AND a great game in Spider-man PS4.

4. Spider-man is Marvel's Batman and Superman put together and it's a superhero fighting game missing the second most popular and biggest trend setting superhero in history even if he's not DC's. He's also the guy whose villain Spawn's design was inspired by (Venom).

5. His gear possibilities would be endless.

6. Injustice is a fighting game with interactables and Spider-man fights with his environment more than any superhero I can think of. He's PERFECT for Injustice.

My design ideas:

He should definitely be a footsie based character with the fastest forward and backward walk speed in the game because Spider-man is a hit and run fighter who is known for his speed, agility and untouchability with his spider sense. His b3 would be one of the unique things about him because it would be him doing a web vault where he attaches 2 webs to the edge of the screen he's facing, pulls back and sling shots himself forward with a kick. The longer you charge it the farther he goes and if you fully charge it, it would go full screen. Yes, a full screen b3.

His trait would be spider sense where he would auto dodge all projectiles and mix ups and take no chip obviously. The only way you could hit him would be with air attacks and jump ins and maybe grabs or by punishing an unsafe string or special on whiff or block, which would be fine because he should be a heavily unsafe character. Why? Because that's how he gets hit in the comics, by getting punished when dodging isn't possible. Trait should have low cool down by the way.

He shouldn't have good 50/50s, but his normals should have good range and great speed with fast recovery so they'd also be great staggers, but the strings leading off his normals should be mostly unsafe and hard to hit confirm similar to MKX Quan Chi. I'd like to see command grabs and parries as well since he started his career as a wrestler, and here's my coolest idea for him: He would have unique interactions with interactables.

With his webs he would have full screen access to all interactables. If he's on the far left with an interactable on the far right, he could web it instantly and use it as a projectile and the same for vice versa. Also, if an interactable is thrown at him, he should have the unique ability to press R1 to web it and throw it back as long as you do it quick on reaction. He could also uniquely choose whether to use an interactable as a power, agility OR tech character since Spider-man has all 3 traits as a character, and you would control all the interactable options with the directional buttons. Thoughts?

Edit: One more idea, you know that vine interactable you can hang off of in MKX? Spider-man should be able to stick to any large acrobatic interactable just like that for a limited time and be able to jump off it any time because he can stick to walls obviously.

Pfft... hahahahahahaha! Yeah, sure. Creative and unique. How many MKX move recycles have been shown already? And the fact that there are already characters that look like clones? Oh yeeeeeeeah, NRS is the imaginative studio of our day and age.

DC and Marvel are friends who feed off each other, not enemies, and they've crossed over many times in the past. It's totally possible.
Cared to explain how they feed of each other? Are you referring to the cross over that was done before their parent company brought and saved them from going under? There more issues to them crossing over now than decades ago. WB and Disney have power here.

Thoughts?
Copyright issues.

EDIT: The way this usually works is if it's a Crossover medium like a Comic, Videogame or Show/Movie, they tend to want equal grounds for all titles involved. So for example when they pitched DC against Marvel they had to make sure both sides equally "win it" and both sides have equivalents in character power.

It's a bit childish but then the majority of the audience is also childish so when Supes went against Spidey, they made it so that spidey got soaked in kryptonite (or red sun radiation, can't remember which) and rekted Supes right back after being thrown around for a bit.

Or when the Titans met the X-Men, they had identical tropes facing off so Phoenix vs Darkseid, Storm vs Starfire, Cyke vs Cyborg etc.

The reason why I believe Marvel would never agree is that they'd want equivalents of the heroes present so for example Spidey is okay as a candidate vs Batman, but then we'd need Sentry vs Superman, Tigra vs Cheetah etc. The roster would be much larger, and much less satisfying.

I mean, I'd love to have Spidey
I just know Marvel better than to hope.

They use ideas from each other all the time. Darkseid, Thanos, Deathstroke, Deadpool, MCU, DCCU, New 52, all new all different, DC rebirth and now it's rumored Marvel is going to have a reboot too. They're friendly. People talk like it's impossible to get one marvel character in a DC fighting game when Boon's already presented the idea on his twitter. It's not impossible at all, and if it is, no one's shared any facts yet to back it up. If someone's going to make an argument that something's practically impossible, like flying machines (planes), they should be well versed in that subject, not laymen who think they know anything about aviation or copyright.

Well yeah they copied each other since the beginning. I'm saying it's not as easy now as it was with the Marvel vs DC arc years ago. WB and Disney has the say in that now. Not impossible but unlikely. Especially with the whole Disney/Marvel vs Fox issue and Marvel getting rid of advertising Characters Fox own. And WB is pushing to copy Marvels Phase plan to compete with them.

I don't see each side at this time doing crossovers.

Thank you for giving an explanation and not being Captain Obvious just pointing out that Marvel is not DC.

I know, I had to remind myself that not everybody here is a publicist and up in the know about how this works.

Crossovers generally demand equal grounds is the law.
Nobody wants their world-famous IP to be guest starring in a game mainly protagonised (and antagonised) by a rival title.
It would make for bad rep.

Somebody from Image such as Spawn would be more likely because those are smaller titles and Spawn has been crossing over into DC several times already.
