Injustice Training Partner Open Call
This is something that I'm always looking for, but never really openly and explicitly asked for. Several years ago I had this in earlier games, but not so much in the "modern era." Sometimes it's only as simple as asking, so let's see how this works out.
I'm looking for serious training partners for Injustice. Ideally I'd like to have a core group of like-minded players who would like to learn and compete at our highest possible level. Honestly, I'd like as many of these players as possible, but I think I'll be fortunate to find people who really match what I'm looking for. Therefore, I'm initially targeting a group of 3-5 players.
I'm looking for people who are willing to commit to playing/practicing offline 3-6 times per week. 3 times is the bare minimum. I want to create a hyper-competitive learning environment where we are beating the hell out of each other on a frequent basis (very roughly analogous to the Doomsday origin story actually). The key difference is that we openly share information to help uncover what really works and doesn't work. It's ok to have gimmicks, but also want to get down to the essence of what really wins. Tournament experience and experience with the game is preferable, but most important is the desire to work hard, push each other, and learn.
I'm also looking for people who have a desire AND ability to travel and compete in events. Hopefully we can use our shared resources to reduce our expenses by traveling in a group. I know that financially a lot of us are strapped, and honestly it's hard to do this when you aren't stable in that area. So if you are currently focusing on getting your life together I would encourage you to do that, then get at me. (it's still hard to do it when you ARE stable... but that's another conversation for another day) That being said I am willing to support some expenses for the group under certain exceptional circumstances.
What I'm NOT looking for are complainers or people who don't like the game. To do the above is extremely difficult when you don't have a positive attitude or are at the very least willing to ACCEPT THE GAME FOR WHAT IT IS. In my experience, that type of attitude is a cancer that 1) limits the potential achievement for the best players 2) infects the minds of the players trying to get better and/or get into the scene. There is no good that comes from a negative/cynical outlook. There's plenty of that out there; I don't want it in a group that I'm a part of. I also don't want people who are inconsistent. I understand that life gets in the way (see the above paragraph), but I'm talking about willingness to grind on this shit over time. I don't know about you guys, but competing in fighting games is really difficult for me. It's hard to break through, and you have to have a certain amount of persistence to deal w/ the frustration of learning.
I want to really go to war in this game. I want Dallas to represent like I know we can. There's a lot of heads to mash out there, and a little cash and glory as well, and it's there for us to take it. Ultimately though, I can't do it alone. I (or any one person for that matter) need lots of help, but I think a solid group of players can do it.
If you have made it to this point and are seriously interested, hit me up. For those interested, I will have an in person gathering soon.
