They've stated in various interviews that they are aware of how the "Gear System" would affect competitive play. They know it's going to be competitive and to just leave unchecked would be pretty dumb. It's going to give us more modes to mess with it will irrelevant and ones that will give us a shit show of broken matches is fine by me. The more content and costumes they can pack in there for us to mess with is fine with me.
